I learned other things like actualized DNA concepts and many others that I had ...
I am a psychologist who studied biology in 1963-64 and 1964-65. My hobby is Saltwater aquarium keeping. I needed to learn some state of the art biology to apply it to my hobby. I read this book from cover to cover and many things that I had in my unconscious mind were refreshed. I learned other things like actualized DNA concepts and many others that I had never heard of. What I really liked about the book is the way it presents new concepts. It is easy to read, easy to understand and presents it’s subject matter in a progressive way, from easier necessary concepts to more difficult ones. I liked the book a lot. Congratulations to the authors.Ferdinand Acevedo Ph.D.

I loved this book
I loved this book.Since, I am studying to be a doctor in college I had got this book to help me with a little extra studying for tests.I think this is a perfect book, because it really covers so much surface area. I think that's why I love the dummiesbooks so much, by no means are these books for "dummies," either. I don't understand the hate and criticism. They're well written, very well put together, easy to understand, and help remarkably on finals.5/5

Very happy with this book
After doing some research on what book I wanted from the several I browsed and checking user reviews I settled on this book. I don't mind the name but I do mind that the book serve the purpose I buy it for and this book serves that purpose to the T. It is very enjoyable to read and study. As far as I have read it (and I don't have much time to read) I have enjoyed every chapter of it and expect to continue enjoying it. I was sure glad I got it from Amazon. The price was right and the contents are what I wanted. The reviews helped a lot especially when they were of people who have bought the book.Happy studying!

I liked the content because it went with my college course
I bought two bio for dummies books and they were both the same content. This one was used and pages were a bit bent but still did it’s job. I ended up keeping this one and giving away the smaller one. I liked the content because it went with my college course. I would get very stressed because I didn’t know what to study for, the book gives you an idea of what the important topics are. Great to use with your class. I will be getting the anatomy one next!

Helpful and broad in scope
Most sections were well written and clear. Occasionally definitions for technical terms were missing. For example, the DNA replication section had some terms on the diagram that were not defined and there appeared to be a text error with regards to 3‘, 3’’, and 5’ and 5’’. The combination of missing definitions and the text errors made it difficult to understand; I had to go to alternate sources for clarification. A derivation for technical terms was often given, making them easier to understand and remember. Overall I highly recommend the text.

Must for College!
The Biology for dummies helped significantly during my year of college General Bio for PreMed. Although it does not replace the text book it helps to understand the text book. Lets face it, text books are hard to read. This book helped create a foundation that I could later easily expand on with the text book. It was also much more fun to read. I would read the section in this book first to get an idea on the subject than after I would read the section from the text book. This covered everything in my bio class. This is a must have for any college student in General Biology. It is also great for reviewing before finals!

Do you need the kitchen sink?
This book covers too many things. If you are reading this to ace your biology CLEP exam you'll be biting off more than you can chew. The only way to use this book effectively is by knowing EXACTLY what subjects are in your exam then referring to this book...rip out the key information and write it down on a piece of paper or index cards (flash cards). Then close this book and never open it again.

An absolute must for taking college biology!
After switching careers and being out of a science classroom for almost 15 years, I used this book as a supplement for both Bio 1 & 2 at my university and have no doubt that this book was key in helping get an A in both courses. It is, as others have previously mentioned, not a substitute for a class textbook and may not cover every single section your particular class focuses on, but it's a great resource for helping you understand complex biological concepts that may have seemed confusing at first. I cannot recommend it more highly!

The "for dummies" series is always worth the money
Very informative, love it. Will provide me with many hours of reading. Written in a way that you dont feel like youre reading a text book. Quirky and funny at times, it is an entertaining read as much as it very useful if you're revising, refreshing your memory or learning a new thing.

Great Introduction to ... everything.
This book is great for everybody who has to pass a general biology class in college and has only limited background information from school. I passed a Geobiochemistry class just fine and got all the information I needed about DNA, Evolution and Cell Organization from this little yellow book. It's really one of my favourite books that I bought for uni.The chapters are quite short and fast to read without missing important information. There are also plenty of useful "Remember"-sections, in which the quintessence of the chapter or section is descrided shortly.I would recommend this book to anybody who takes Bio 101 and wants a cheap book with all the information and also a joke every other page.
