Great buy!
I bought a larger toaster oven than I needed because it had better controls. That worked out terrifically. It heats up fast, maintains toasting, baking or broiling temps excellently. It is easy to use and easy to clean. Great buy for the money.

Great Toaster Oven.
We just love it. Hard to believe, but it's hard to find a toaster oven that fits nicely on an 18" cabinet. Most of them are way too small or too big. This one works great and dies exactly what we want it yo do.

*Updated 3.5 yrs later* Units last a long time once you get a good one!
Update: It's been over 3 1/2 yrs with the replacement unit. I've used it as my primary oven (gas fumes from the big range make me really sick). It's been used every day, at least twice. I just ordered a new one only because the fan for the convection part quit and it does make a difference on even cooking. Oh and other reviews are right, it's not really a great toaster. Just buy a toaster if that's your aim for this. But, it makes great garlic bread, english muffin pizzas on bake, and things like chicken nuggets and oven fries._____________________________________________________________Back again - I'm upgrading to 4 stars - I contacted B&D (actually it's their Spectrum Home Appliances division). I let them know I was not happy with my oven for the first time in my 40 yrs of using their products. They sent an email requesting information and I sent it. They asked for a receipt (easy with Amazon), what temp I was using, how long it was on, etc. They emailed back a few days later saying that they were activating my warranty and sending me a new unit. It came in within a week. (they say they have 4-6 wks to let me know what to do with the first one, so I'm kind of stuck with the old one in the new one's box in my living room...) Anyway, the new one got the toughest challenge out of the gate with popping fresh cinnamon rolls and it did a terrific job. The heating elements on the first one never shut off no matter what temp the oven got to, so I think the thermostat potentiometer must be faulty. I would watch for that if you see this unit just burning everything no matter the temperature you set it at... and honestly I'd just sent it back to Amazon as broken during the first month.. dealing with B&D is far more trouble....==================================================================================================So, I'm back two weeks in and after multi times daily use I am just not as happy as I'd like to be for sure. This oven cooks faster;, now whether that is the convection part or the element strength or whatever it is, they need to put it back to cooking normally, or ideally give us a switch to turn the darn convection/superfast cooking OFF. This is fine for cooking things like chicken tenders and tator tots, but definitely not for baked goods. I've tried cinnamon rolls (the small pillsbury ones) 6 times and I can't get them to cook right. Ditto with muffins and cornbread. It's so powerful that it burns the outside before the inside cooks. I used to own a restaurant and cooked a lot, but all my tricks aren't working. I've tried tenting with foil and turning it down, no go, still burned and raw. I've tried using a stoneware pan sitting on top of another pan for insulation and used parchment paper and also tenting... fail. Just turning it down still results in a burned top and bottom and uncooked center. About the only good things I can say is that this large toaster oven cooks toast (the one thing that these don't normally do quickly) in less time than my regular toaster. That says something about how hot this thing gets. Until I can afford to try another one I'm stuck using it for just heating up and not really baking..back to the big oven for that. I should mention I've been using B&D toaster ovens for as long as I can remember and it's only this one that has ever given me this trouble. Perhaps it's this Applica Incorporated's engineers at fault... sad about this, too much money for me to throw away being disabled. Update, took a chance and talked to customer service. I can send back without original box, so am doing so and will go for something else. thanks Amazon!original review below---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Just got this... A bit larger than the standard 6 slice but I specifically wanted something taller as to perhaps cook muffins and such. The controls are easy and familiar, mostly, if you've loved your B&D toaster ovens for years you'll find these not too different. I had to burn off the manufacturing residue, I did that by putting it on a cookie sheet on the stove top, turning it on 400 and bake and turning on the vent over the cooktop. Took about 20 min to stop smelling but this is standard stuff for toaster ovens.I have one kvetch... the baking pan that comes with it is the same size as the "regular" smaller 6 slice toaster oven...it's identical. The whole point of going a little larger was to get a larger pan as well. We think they either did this out of laziness or because it's convection and they wanted room for the air to flow. Well, either way I am now searching for an oddly sized larger pan to use in there. If I find on I'll come back and post a link. It needs to be just under 12" x 9"...ideally I'm looking for one made to slide into the toaster oven grooves... I need all the room in there I can get.

Love my new Black & Decker!
This toaster-oven replaced a 20 year old smaller toaster-oven that also is a Black & Decker and is still working. I primarily wanted a broiler that the new one offered, plus I liked the idea of the Convection part added to the oven. In the two weeks or so since I've received it, I've already used the broiler twice for steaks and they came out as good, if not better than my outdoor barbeque can do. I'm already looking forward to cooking another steak with the broiler, plus trying the oven soon for baking a potato to see how much less time it takes over my conventional oven.

Love this toaster oven
Love this toaster oven. The extra space in it is so useful. And I haven't burned myself once on it as I did daily on the old toaster oven. The top and sides are very warm but not so hot touching them burn you, and the handle on the front door is designed with enough space between it and the door it doesn't get too hot to handle. Learned my lesson with the different brand, will never buy anything but a Black &Decker toaster oven again.

Worthless
This thing is garbage. I have had these toaster ovens for around 15 years, first one I bought was from K-Mart and for the most part they worked fine. They would break after a couple three four years, no big deal, I'd just buy two more so I had one in stock when the first one broke.Well the latest version of this toaster oven IS COMPLETE JUNK. In what universe does an engineer not understand that when you turn the dial to 450 degrees you want the oven to go to 450 degrees? Don't even think you can get this to more than 300 degrees and that is with you finagling it with the toast function!Oh it will get to 350 when you first fire it up (set at 450) but it will consistently go down to 250-300 until you can't even cook food!! Don't think that my thermometers are wrong either, B&D customer service. because I used 4 different ones. It don't matter about that when you put some potatoes and western ribs in for 2 hours and they don't even get lukewarm!!! I first thought I had a bad one but the next two were the exact same way. The burritos in the pic were in the oven for over 2 hours and the cheese isn't even melted!!!!THIS IS COMPLETE JUNK! TRASH OUT OF THE BOX. Seems the design engineers Black and Decker hired ARE FREAKING STUPID!!!! Put a probe in the oven box so you know what the temp is, morons.Seems the morons at B&D can't figure that out. Oh nooooo... they put the temp thing on the dial so unless your house is 40 degree F your food will never get done.B&D used to be quality products. Now it is junk. I gave the two ovens I bought along with the first one to Goodwill and will never buy anything from B&D again... and that includes Dewalt tools. And while I am thinking about it... don't ask me to rescind this evaluation if you give me my money back because that is not gonna happen. Here's an idea idiots... make sure your products work as advertised!

Highly disappointed. Will be returning the oven as it does ...
Do not buy this oven! Thought we were buying a brand new product and when we opened the box it was a Factory Serviced model. No where in the product description did it indicate that it was not new. The centre timer dial does not work at all. Neither does the indicator light, which led to a family member being burned as they had no way of knowing the oven was on! Highly disappointed. Will be returning the oven as it does not work!
