You can teach an old cat new tricks!
My 13 year old cat as always had the leisure of swanning in and out as she pleases however this involved the door being open at all times. We installed a large dog flap for our puppy and the cat would use that stealthily avoiding the bouncy XL puppy... 3 years later and having to say goodnight to our beloved puppy we were faced with a larger hole in the backdoor than required and found neighbouring cats were frequenting our home and often acting like they owned the place.Cue the microchip flap!!!What a god send! No more having to shoo the neighbours cats out and our old girl can come and go as she pleases again. Now for the down side, whilst the cat was confident in using a much larger flap previously. She wasn't as keen with this one. When it reads the microchip it makes a loud click which put her off using it. We tried everything, treats, food, even cheese (which is her favourite thing in the whole world) she just would not enter through it once it clicked. I even held it open in both directions for her, to which we achieved she would leave the house through it but still would not come back in because of the click, often choosing to sit outside the door calling to come in.It's been about 6 weeks now and she's finally grasped it, pretty much giving her no choice as we went on away for a few days, leaving a friend to take care of her food needs whilst we were away.24 hours after our return she has decided she can do it without someone having to hold the door or push her through from the outside (because that was starting to get tedious). Now I can settle knowing that she can take herself out to toilet and return without my help.My old lady is approx same size as a young adult cat, so not sure if this size would suit larger adults. However the door is secure and easy to use. It fits very well and is pretty sturdy for being plastic. The door closes securely although you can hear it in use from the next room, the wind doesn't blow it open and no heat is lost from the home in the colder months. It has 4 locking functions, in, out, in/out and locked. Easy to program to the cat's microchip (easier to do before fitting to door and may require a helping hand if your cat is extra anxious).Best thing I ever bought, besides our beautiful old girl.

Fantastic cat flap for the price
I've had this in place now for 1 year and it works brilliantly. Installing this was fairly simple with the templates included for cutting out hole. I'm fairly competent at these sort of things but found it much easier than other simple non microchip cat flaps. It's a robust, strong built cat flap and looks good when in place.Setting up the Microschip recogition was super simple and definitely do this before you install it as so much easier to handle your cat together with this when you can move both.So far I've not changed the batteries (1 year in).Overall excellent product.

It works but is noisey
I bought this particular brand of cat flap purely because it was on offer.Since I had a brown one already (another brand) in a white PVC door, which was being moved elsewhere, it seemed logical to pick the white one so it didn’t stand out as much.Luckily the hole from the previous flap was only marginally smaller so it was easy to cut it a little bigger for this one.As we soon found out however, the similarities between the 2 brands are fairly minimal. The other brand requires my cat to put her head into the tunnel to activate the catches, whereas this one appears to have some sort of radar for whenever she passes within 10 foot of it. That wouldn’t be a problem if A) she didn’t like to sit and look out of it without actually going out & B) it wasn’t the noisiest cat flap on earth. All night all we can hear from the kitchen is CLUNK, CLICK as she goes anywhere near it or like most cars, takes 10 minutes to decide if she is coming in or not. And this seems to be going on all night. The whole thing is so noisey and I can’t imagine why since the other brand isn’t.Thankfully I haven’t had the battery drain problem others have reported but I’m wondering if the fact it lights up every time something. Goes anywhere near it is what’s causing the battery issues for most people. I’ve no idea what it’s doing since my leg clearly doesn’t have a microchip (well, unless I’ve been implanted and didn’t know it) so I wouldn’t expect it to light up when I go near it to open the door, but it does. Granted, it doesn’t CLUNK CLICK at me, but it’s doing something if it’s lighting up.So, as far as microchip cat flaps go it’s working fine. It was quick and easy to set up and so far no issues with its operation.Just wish there was some way to make it quieter as I’d never realised how indecisive my cat was until we got this as now watching TV or trying to sleep comes with an background soundtrack if the cat is anywhere near it.I’m not sure if this is normal or if I got a duff one since no one else has really mentioned the noise, but unless you have had previous microchip flaps to compare it too maybe people assume this is normal? So 4 stars as it’s works fine but losing 1 star for the noise of operation.
