The handle isn't super long but it is more than efficient for this kind of need. Imagine the size of a hot tub that seats 8. This would reach nicely. It's sturdy enough that I am comfortable to do the skimmer "slap" to remove debris as it gets full. You scoop the debris with the net of the skimmer and turn it over and slap the handle or frame of the skimmer on the side of the pool to jar off the dirt and debris. Sometimes a quick turn over if the skimmer and a quick shake is all you need. I am very happy with this product.
