Statistical Quality Design and Control: Contemporary Concepts and Methods

Very clear text with excellent examples.
This book starts with a fascinating history of statistical process control (SPC). Then it moves along nicely through process measurement and control, and finishes with a fine treatment of design of experiments (DOE). It assumes a rudimentary understanding of statistics.I felt that the book's strongest point was its use of real-world examples. In addition to giving a context to the material, it also provided a way to walk one through the calculations and results. Finally, the analysis of the results had meaning, and allowed the authors to show which parameters were important to the process, and which could be ignored. Finally, this was a very good read. At no point during the 900+ pages did I think, "when will this ever end". I can't remember the last time I felt that way about what is essentially a textbook.

Decent Content, but poor design and quality of the physical book
I bought this textbook for a class and I was disappointed in the quality of the physical book. It doesn't have a hard spine or cover and is difficult to keep open on a page, which makes it challenging to work on problems. Additionally, the book didn't appear to be as pristine as I would expect for a "new" book, which is an interesting coincidence since this book is about quality control. This is upsetting since the price of the book is rather expensive.I give it 2 stars not because of the content of the book, but purely for the difficulty to access that content and work with the book. If the greatest book ever written was in a language you didn't know, it would be worthless.

A little bit wordy and vague. The author eventually gets to the point, but it may be a chapter or two ahead of where you are. Was difficult for me to make the assumptions that was made.

I rented the book, which was great. The book is highlighted and coffee stained on the edges, but it's a rental. It will serve it's purpose and help keep my educational expenses down...thanks amazon rental!

Find the hardcover if you can
Please note that the book is quite excellent. I used it in grad school and now as a professor. But, the editions here are all paperback! The book is thick, and too thick for paperback really.

Best book I've seen explaining statistical concepts & design of experiments
I feel sorry that many people who want to learn statistical concepts and design of experiments will not look for this book, since it feels like an engineering book. In reality, chapters 3, 4, and part III of this book teaches these concepts very gently and with easy to follow examples. I wish the writers write books on other statistical techniques as well. This book is probably already well-known for teaching statistical quality control techniques.

Not what I expected and not as described!
This book was described to be in "used" condition...so I expected some highlighting and a slightly worn cover. However, the condition of the book should have been described as "damaged." The binding is completely broken and torn away from the hardcover...not even attached to more than half of the pages. The front cover also has a 2 inch rip in it. I am completely unsatisfied with this purchase and the poor description of the book's condition.

Good Text
Pretty standard quality text. Good layout, explains things well and uses graphic effectively. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject.
