Very cool book!
This book is a series of challenges for the reader to solve using drafting tools. They are interesting and sometimes beautiful. Not for young kids but I can see a high school kid really getting into this (or me, for that matter!) Only drawback is sometimes the answers are a little brief and may not give quite enough information for everyone.

Drafting Review
The book was filled with excellent information, if somewhat in depth, for upstart draftsmen and women. The math problems would be fun to participate in while in class but were beyond my needs for the project at hand.Shipping was prompt and the price was right.

Know What You Are Buying!
Just wanted to let others know that this is a TINY book. From the cover photo and topic, I assumed it would be approximately 8.5" x 11", like a typical modern workbook. Instead, it is a miniscule 5" x 7" and about 0.5" thick, excluding the covers. Perhaps this was the standard textbook size in 1912, when the book was first published, but if you are expecting a big book to spread open on your table and scribble in, you will be disappointed. The pages do not contain blank space for working out your answers to problems, so you will need a separate notepad to draw the exercises.Having said that, the book does pack a substantial amount of information into its little body. I purchased it because I love the look of manual drafting and wanted a textbook that excluded CAD. In the end, I found this book a bit too flimsy in content and simply purchased a full-scale college drafting text published before 1960, which gave me the depth of instruction I was seeking as well as many more vintage drawing examples to admire. "The Art of Manual Drafting" will indeed give you an overview, with just a few accompanying drawings and exercises, of the following (chapter headings): Introduction to Practical Mechanical Drawing, The Draftsman's Equipment, Geometric Exercises with Instruments, Working Drawings, Conventions Used in Drafting, Modified Positions of the Object, The Detailed Working Drawing, Pattern-Workshop Drawings, Penetrations, The Isometric Working Drawing, Miscellaneous Exercises, A Suggested Course for Young Draftsmen. However, it does not cover any of these topics in great depth and the illustrations are very limited (in absolute terms, that is - there are pictures on every page, but being a small book that adds up to not very many pictures overall). It is a pretty book bound in blue cloth and the drawings have a lovely old-fashioned look. This product is perhaps best suited to a coffee-table conversation piece, or something to tuck in your luggage (with a compass and triangle) for airplane doodling - assuming you have some basic interest in the topic as well as a more comprehensive text to refer to on your bookshelf back home. To me, it's like a 'Cliff Notes' reference to the real thing. A very cute, sweet book but know what you are buying to avoid disappointment!
