English & Grammar, Grade 4 (Brighter Child Workbooks)

In our family, no matter the grade, there are three stages to our childrens' daily learning: school work, homework and extra work, otherwise known as studying. We use workbooks by  Sylvan , Teacher Created Resources , School Zone , and the  Summer Bridge  series by Carson-Dellosa to enhance the classroom curriculum.The first third of this Brighter Child series workbook features exercises of English grammar. The language rule, such as nouns, verb tenses, subject and predicates, direct and indirect objects, and adjectives is reviewed on the first page of the main section, followed by 4-5 pages of subsection work. For instance, Adverbs is followed by Adverbs of Time, then Adverbs of Place and finally Adverbs of Manner. If your child is still trying to figure out the basic rules governing simple adverbs, the following three sections will be confusing and frustrating.The second third of the workbook features contractions and syntax rules such as "sit/set, can/may, good/well, because/so, this/these, and/or/but. The work was made harder by the absence of a typical fill-in-the-blanks answer format. Instead, all the possible answers were included in the sentence example forcing the reader to slow down and really read through the material. This section was my favorite for both its original concept and challenging format.The final third quizzes your scholar on their proofreading and punctuation skills.This is not a skills-building workbook; this is an intense skills-testing workbook. There's a lot of material on each page - an average of 15 questions - all of which require written responses. We're looking forward to tackling the next level with Brighter Child.

I bought these series of workbooks (4th, 5th and 6th grade)for my niece that is polishing her English and I needed to make enfasis on past subjects. I'm very pleased with them, because they have an explanation for the exercise, a quick explanation of the concept they are going to work on and the results at the end. All in all a good purchase for a very good price. I wish they could come with an accompanying book to be able to give a more detailed explanation about not so clear or dificult concepts.

Good book.

This is a really good book to work on cursive writing for a beginner. I bought this book for my son who has to write in cursive in the next school year which is only three months away. This will really help him out during the summer break.

It is very useful but too short.But for the price it is worth it.

I teach esl to adults and any grammar book is a good resource. I like that the lessons are easy for the students to review their grammar.

This is a very good workbook for my twin grandsons who will be starting Grade 4 next school year. I bought these books to help them prepare for that grade during the summer break. I am always searching for excellent products from Amazon.com because you are so reliable and your products are shipped off so promptly.
