Simple, reliable adapter for accessing SATA drives quickly
I bought this adapter to access an old SSD and transfer files to my laptop, and it worked straight out of the box. There was no complicated setup required—just connect the drive and plug the USB cable into the computer. The adapter feels well made and provides a stable connection, with no dropouts or issues during file transfers. It recognised both SSDs and 2.5-inch hard drives quickly on my system. Data transfer speeds are impressive when used with a USB 5Gbps port, making it useful for backups, file recovery, cloning drives, or accessing old storage devices. The compact cable design makes it highly portable and easy to keep in a laptop bag or desk drawer without taking up much space. Compatibility has been excellent, working smoothly with different drives and operating systems without requiring additional software. A dependable, easy-to-use adapter that makes connecting and transferring data from SATA drives quick and hassle-free.

Better than U-Green wires!
This wire is really good for my Crucial BX500 SATA SSD 2TB, 2.5" Internal SSD. (yes I know, it says internal), but because I like to "go on the move" with storage, this wire helps me a lot with that. The wire has been through so many travels and not a single issue with it. I do have it in a case. The wire is really easy to "use". What I mean by that is - you just connect your drive and then plug the other end into a laptop or PC (or phone/tablet) and works perfectly. It fit's pefectly in bags, just be carful to not bend the connector if you keep it connected to your storage drive. It might look "long" and flexible but that is the wire, not the connector pins which you can bend pretty easily if you are careless. Easy to connect to any storage drive so long as you are not forceful with it.

Great for purpose
Wanted to recover files from a broken laptop. Worked like a charm!

Not really suitable for SATA HDD.
In and of itself, it's a fine cable adapter. But be careful with what you want to connect - spec says 0.9A, but USB3 data ports are spec'ed for 500mA only. Basically, this won't work on its own to power a typical 1A SATA HDD and most SDD SATA drives need even more amps.

Works well for USB booting from SSDs
I have about 5 of these - they work for booting Raspberry Pis from SSDs.

FAB, no issues on an old laptop running windows 10. Only issue was me... remember to initialise and format the new SSD!
I bought the Startech USB to SATA cable to clone my Samsung 700Z laptop gard drive to a Sandisk Ultra II 960GB SSD. I connected the cable to the SSD and to the USB on my laptop any although I had the 'new hardware sound' but no drive appeared under 'my computer'. At first I thought like some reviewers that this cable wouldn't work with my laptop as the USB didn't provide enough power. So I tried it in a desktop and the same. Both with windows 10. I then tried a Dell tablet and again no joy. I did the standard google search and there were two things I needed to do. 1) Initialise the new SSD and 2) Format the new SSD. After doing both (google it to see how) the drive was now visible. I downloaded Macrium cloning software (the free version) and set in off while I went to plan tennis. Two hours later all cloned and no errors. It took about 10 minutes to remove the back of the laptop and replace the HDD with the SDD. WOW... what a difference. The laptop boots in less than 5 seconds and works so quickly. No errors, no problems, perfect. The lead and SSD are both fab, I had no problems with an old laptop running Windows 10. No drivers to download, it just worked (though remember to initialise and format the SSD. Not a full format, just a quick format. Good luck!

This is the USB to SATA cable to go for
I have bought about ten of these cables, and they are fantastic. I've used them with drives from various vendors, like Kingston and PNY, and they offer UASP support and great reliability. The chipset on mine is ASMedia. Particularly useful for the Raspberry Pi. Look no further.

Doesn't seem to work
Didn't work - don't know if it's the hard drive or whether I've been given a faulty cable.

werkt prima!
