The Very Best of John Williams: Trumpet (Book & CD)

My son is working towards grade 3 trumpet and he loves this book. He's really enthusiastic about playing the theme tunes to familiar movies. He has worked alone on a lot of these tunes to perfect them. It's a great book to encourage a child to play something they love.

Started using with my brass students, they love it! So many great tunes and styles. I am happy using with grade 4 ABRSM students as range goes upto G above the stave, the odd Ab but love the challenge. Pupils love playing along with CD and makes a change from usual studies and exam repertoire. Highly recommended!

Book feels more like a magazine and didn't come with the CD as advertised.

Great book for young trumpet players wanting interesting music! Quite high range to play so beginners may only be able to play part of pieces to start with.

It is like playing in a brass section ' and orchestral arranged.

Bought this Book for my 15yr old grandson to help him improve his trumpet playing , he was delighted with it and has found it very helpful and has played all the different tunes . A good easy purchase for the younger ones

Bought this book for saxophone some time ago for my daughter and my son has been asking for it so he can play the songs on his trumpet. The children want to practise more often because the songs are so good

I bought this for my son whose trumpet playing is great once he's learnt a piece but sight-reading not so great. As with many budding musicians, he is sometimes less than enthusiastic about his practice. He loves these pieces - all great, brass-heavy John Williams offerings - and plays through them trying to get them right. There is the famous theme that he knows well and some sections that aren't so familiar so perfect for learning.They are pretty true to the originals so fairly tricky in places so his trumpet teacher is happy to work on them with him. The CD is great for him to play along with. Again quite challenging as the recordings go at the correct speed and you need to keep up which is also great practice for playing in ensembles. Fantastic backing track for a performance too.just to add having looked at the other reviews: my son has just done grade 6 and he still finds these good challenging pieces so not just for grade 3 and 4.
