Ok, so what do you get:4 large dinner plates, 4 shallow desert bowls/ plates (they are described by the manufacturer as soup plates) and four medium sized plates (described by the manufacturer as desert plates) all very nice porcelain straight forward white plates with no pattern, how I like themThe cutlery is really pleasing, stainless steel and well balanced, i am delighted with themThe glasses are equally delightful, thin but well balanced crystal, really marvelousWhat it doesnt say in the manufancturers description for some reason is that you get eight glasses in total, 4 of both of the glasses in the image, they make me want to take up heavy drinking again.

This is a great home starter set, a cut above the usual basics sets. You get setting for 4 people including, unusually, but usefully glasses. The cutlery is weighty and very shiny in a classic no frills style with a Villeroy and Boch branding on the knife. You get 1 large and 1 smaller tumbler for each person in a round. balloon style - a bit different to standard g;asses. They look really nice but the shape does mean that they take up a more shelf space than straight glasses. There is a side plate, a dinner plate and a really useful soup plate. We don't use these for soup but for everyday meals, especially pasta dishes. They a more shallow than our usual pasta bowls so help with portion control and are great for eating TV suppers on the sofa as the shallow bowl shape is more useful than a plate in preventing spillage. The porcelain they are made of is really white and feels so much nicer than the ubiquitous stoneware that "china" sets seem to be made of nowadays.This set would make a fantastic gift for someone setting up their first (non student) home

With this table set you will be dining in style. This is one of the finest sets I have handled (pardon the pun)....okay so I don't live in a palace but the plates are gorgeous to hold.The cutlery is really balanced to hold and looks great. The crystal glasses are very nice with two types coming with this set.I have tried them in the dishwasher and they came out perfect - just as I would expect.The soup dishes are just like what you would have in any good restaurant and add a touch of class. I have to say I am highly impressed and will be looking to add to this gorgeous collection.

Very nice, simple design. A quality set for every day use. Four place settings with 4+4 tumbler type glasses. The glasses are super delicate, like a fine wine glass without the stem, and are maybe the only items less suited to every day use. The set is a good price for a quality brand like Villeroy & Boch, and feels a bit special to use, but is beyond many peoples price point for a 4 place set, certainly mine. If someone has a very smart, minimalist flat with no kids, they may love this set. Recommended.

They really have a fabulous clean modern brand image. Their products are generally in the bathroom and kitchen categories, but they also make lighting and garden products. In their kitchen range they have a huge variety of crockery, most of it costing more than the items in this four person set.This box set would make a really beautiful wedding present, or a gift for someone starting their first home. It's really much too nice to be bought for a student, but maybe there are some exceptionally classy students out there...There are three categories of things in this box - dinner plates, smaller dessert plates and soup plates. It's a pity there aren't any bowls - you know, the sort you'd have your cornflakes in, but I suppose you can slum it and eat your cereal from a soup plate. The second category is cutlery, and here we have knives, forks, spoons and coffee spoons - or tea spoons as we could call them. And finally there are glasses, four each of two sizes - tumblers and goblets. Everything is very plain and stylish.There is no question about the quality of the items in this table set, it makes reasonable sense to have enough for four people - that's a couple having two friends over for an evening meal. As your family grows, or maybe you break a few pieces it's reassuring to know that you can buy extras of everything.
