An album selling musical masterpiece!!!!!
This is one amazingly-moving piece of art work. I can not describe the monumental power of love that the album carried from start to finish. Lemonade has purpose from start to finish. It's better felt like the evolution of love and pain, then pain and love again. Power and empowerment. Strength and weakness. It's sooooooooooooooooo beautiful! The songs transition beautifully smooth. The quality of the whole album was very well produced. I am not a fan or proponent of original songwriters, so it does not bother me at all that Beyoncé was not the only writer. What I look for is the voice, body of work, rawness, and commitment to work. I can honestly say that every single song is a single but it carries an even stronger force as a whole body of work. As much as I hated that I was forced to listen to the whole album, I love Beyoncé's master method to force the listeners to judge it as one whole work. Not per song. This is probably the first Beyoncé album that I have to respect and grown to lover each song individualy. Beyoncé has engraved herself as an album selling artist. Not a studio artist, or hot-single artist but a real musical genius. Monly and time we'll spent.

A tour-de-force from the new queen of pop
Lemonade is the sixth album from R&B singer Beyoncé. It was first presented to the public as an hour-long art film on HBO, was available for streaming on the Tidal platform and is now being widely released today. I’m going to make a point of discussing the album separate from the imagery. It’s just astonishing how much musical ground Lemonade covers (experimental electronic music, reggae, dancehall, blues, country) without sounding like a forced effort to be diverse. The production is so full and rich and attentive. Beyoncé’s vocals continue her trend of being richer and more powerful with each release. As we already know, the lyrics are endlessly quotable. This is before getting into any of the sociopolitical context from the film, any of the references (I’ve only seen it once but I thought mainly of Daughters of the Dust and Oxum), any of the cameos. The album is presented in most discussion so far as a kiss-off to Jay Z and while that’s certainly one way to read it, Lemonade also gets into how cheating has been generational within the Knowles family (Beyoncé’s mother and sister were both cheated on as well) and connects this to how women (and specifically, black women) are always treated with disregard in this country. There are so many layers here to unpack. I think these aspects of the record/film will be covered much more fully by black women in the days and weeks to follow and I’m quite excited to read that. But speaking as someone who doesn’t really listen to much mainstream pop and who didn’t give two hoots about most of her music prior to 4 (I put this out there only to make it clear that I’m not Beyhive, I’m not unduly biased in favour of Beyoncé), I think Beyoncé has grown into our bravest, most adventurous, most exciting pop icon. I wanted to compare this to how Taylor Swift is known for making breakup albums but that feels insulting for a work of this gravity; without even stating it, it’s obvious that this is better. Beyoncé doesn’t really have contemporaries anymore. The closest frame of reference would be Vulnicura, Björk's searing account of the dissolution of her marriage. My personal favourites from the album are Hold Up, Sorry, Sandcastles and All Night. I love every song except 6 Inch though (and that’s honestly more to do with the Weeknd because he’s not my cup of tea). Formation is still magnificent but it feels somehow sonically and emotionally separate from the rest of the album. To me, All Night is the end of the narrative and Formation is like a lagniappe. I generally don't review albums but I had to express how much love I have for Lemonade.

but I have to say her two last albums are my favorite. She seems more adventurous musically
I could not see the video at first, but someone posted how to download the content and then I was able to view it on Windows Media Player. I've been an on and off Beyonce follower, but I have to say her two last albums are my favorite. She seems more adventurous musically, and more interesting and personal in her lyrics. If you are looking for the pop queen from the days of Destiny's Child you probably won't find her here...that said, I enjoyed the album and the video. My favorite tracks are "Sorry", "Daddy Lessons", "Don't Hurt Yourself", "All Night" , "Hold Up!" and of course "Formation". I was surprised that Formation was the main track to made me want to buy the album, but ended up not being my first choice after listening to the whole album...it's definitely, worth listening to.

The video only works with MP3 not Auto-Rip
Part 1- Getting the visual album/video with the Amazon download Part 2- The actual music & video PART 1- Like many people who have rated this album and given it a low rating because the visual album is unavailable I agree. I've downloaded digital music with videos previously using iTunes and it was very easy. The songs and videos all showed up so imagine my surprise when I had trouble downloading the visual album. BUT HERE'S THE REAL FIX (because there is a supposed fix that only works if you've purchased the right product). If you purchased the "Auto Rip" version of Lemonade, which means you get the physical copy mailed and you get the mp3 immediately you WILL NOT GET THE VISUAL ALBUM at the time of the mp3 download. The FAQs on Auto Rip specifically state that non-audio content is not downloaded at the time the mp3 is downloaded. But don't worry--you have two choices. 1) Just wait until the album ships and you can download the visual album. or 2) CANCEL THE ORDER for the auto rip and Amazon will automatically convert your auto-rip purchase to a standard MP3 digital download and the visual album will be added to your queue. Only then can you see the video has been purchased, and then use the "Play in Album" link and then hoover over the track to download the video. And it happens instantly once you cancel the auto-rip. For this reason alone I'm extremely disappointed, because I would've liked to have the physical copy of the album. However, knowing that the MP3 fixed the issue I'm moving on. Part 2: The music itself...at this point you've either heard the music and love it or hate it. It's certainly not for me to say whether the music is good because that's a personal preference. I like the album.
