I finally found a lamp bright enough for me!
I love this lamp! I have gone through several other LED Torchier lamps in the past few years, and at this price point, this one is the best by far. It is certainly the brightest, which is what I was specifically looking for. I also love the remote control and I am excited to experiment with all the dimmable levels and different shades of light warmth. This lamp was shipped very quickly and it was the simplest to put together. It is very light, as in weight, and it is very tall. I am 5’ 9” and I cannot see the top of it when I’m standing next to it. The head of the lamp has a wide range of swivel room so you can direct the light pretty much wherever you want it. I completely recommend this lamp, especially for the brightness. If you are looking for a very bright, very white, very steady light for general brightening or especially for tasks, this is the best lamp under $100 for that purpose. Again, I totally recommend it, but I just have one caveat for buyers: the base of the lamp is just two metal bars that connect in the middle like a cross. That is perfectly fine for me because I live alone and I have a cat. However, if you have small children or dogs, this lamp could easily be knocked over, unless you are able to stand it strategically behind a piece of furniture or something like that. Other than that, it really is great and I am very happy that I purchased it.

Excellent lamp, AAA+++
The lamp is easy to assemble because I did not even need any instructions. The picture of the lamp tells where the parts should be.The remote control is an excellent idea. I put the lamp 2 feet away from my computer desk and the remote makes it so convenient.The lamp is very bright. You can change the color the light from bright white to soft yellow using the remote.It is not very heavy, but sturdy.Overall, this is a great product. I just bought another one and my brother bought one too.

Nice lamp
I’ve had this for a few months now. The remote stopped working that came with it. I contacted the seller and they sent a replacement remote. The remote looked like the one in the picture with the red button for sleep. My original remote was all black. I will say the new remote works a lot better. Getting better distance as well. That being said the lamp is bright and I love the adjustments. I couldn’t find program instructions for the remote, but the seller sent them to me upon request. Maybe it would make it possible to program with a universal remote because the lamp does rf? Not sure. But here is how I got my replacement remote to work:How to reset the remote control:(Please NOTE: Each lamp can only work with one remote.)1. Please confirm the remote insert 2 x AAA batteries (not included)2. Don't plug the lamp into power, then long press the remote controller's power button towards the lamp's LED panel. And hold on.3. 5 seconds later, Keep hold on press the remote power button, meanwhile plug the AC adapter into power4. Still hold press the remote power button for 5 seconds, then release. If the lamp turns on at the moment, it means the reset operation is successful. You can control the lamp with the remote now.Hope this helps others.

Not a showpiece, but great utility
We really like this Joly Joy (I'll call it JJ) lamp so far. It's no fashion accessory, but it works well in our great room. We have our home theater set up there and needed adjustable indirect lighting to eliminate reflections/glare on the big TV screen. Four stars overall for its great utility, see MIXED and CONS below for why it's not five.-- PROSColor temperature: Good range of color temps, skewing just a bit bluer than I'd prefer - I doubt I'll use the highest-temp blue/daylight setting, while I'd like maybe one step lower toward amber for late evening lighting, but that's going to be a matter of taste.Brightness: Great range, from quite bright to mood lighting, though missing a step at the low end (i.e., it goes from somewhat dimmed to pretty dark with no intermediate level). There is also a VERY dim (0.8%) night light that is excellent for furniture avoidance while maintaining night vision. Tip: after it's selected, the color temperature on the night light is adjustable; oddly, one click up on color temp actually DIMS it further.Remote control: It's a lot of buttons, but it really does the job. The six presets cover 2 brightness levels (100% and 50%) for each of 3 color temps (this is clearly documented in the manual), plus a separate button for the lowest-temp dimmer-than-dim night light.Weight/base design: This is easily the lightest torchiere I've ever owned. The large (but low profile) crossed legs keep it from being too tippy while avoiding the mass of typical "heavy disk" torchiere bases, and the lack of that massive solid disk makes it easier to place, fitting around corners, chair/table legs, etc. (ours is placed closer to a floor speaker than was possible with our old torchiere). If you have a use case where it's desirable to move the lamp around from time to time, I'd say this is a great fit (but see notes on Stability and Light Direction)-- MIXEDLight Direction: Unlike the old halogen torchieres (but similar to a lot of the new LED models), the JJ's LED panel and shade can be redirected from the straight up direction. This isn't a ball-and-socket type joint but a simple hinge pivot, so the lamp can be redirected about 90deg along the vertical, from straight up to straight sideways. From there, you have to turn the whole lamp to direct the light horizontally (though as noted, that's not very hard given the lamp's light weight). The light field is wide enough that this would probably be useful for task lighting if you don't have to work too close to the lamp (since it cannot be tilted downward past 90deg from vertical).-- CONSManual control: Having seen many fail or misbehave over the years, I'm not a big fan of touch controls, but this seems to be the norm for LED torchieres. There are 2 "buttons", one for on/off and brightness, the other for color temp. You can fiddle with it to get what you want, but the remote's a way better experience (don't lose it!). They're positioned exactly where you're most likely to grab the lamp (or at least where I am), so that's big fun when repositioning it. Perhaps most annoying, the controls are in line with the pivot point for redirecting the lamp (see Light Direction above), so if you have the shade angled down at all from the vertical, the only way to see the buttons is when the lamp is shining in your face. Offsetting that 90deg one way or other around the pole would have worked better.Stability: Probably an unavoidable flip side of the JJ's light weight is a bit less stability. The cross-style base will be fine for most applications, but the lamp is top-heavy enough that the vendor statement that the "heavy base makes it wobble free and safe to have around children and pets" is mostly false - it doesn't wobble, but it's nothing close to heavy, and a medium-size dog would have little trouble knocking it over. In general, this will work better with some protection away from high-traffic areas (so corner of the room good, sitting next to sofa along normal traffic flow bad).Styling: Between the spindly pole and the funky shade, this is no styling triumph, but low-cost torchieres seldom are. It's fine for a home theater or family room, but not something I'd put in a more formal living room or parlor.
