Uni Drop Holder Type Pencil Lead, 2.0mm, HB (ULNHB)

I bought the whole Uni line of 2 mm lead refills. As compared to Staedtler, the Uni's have a smoother more buttery feel to them. They are a pleasure use. The only downside to them is that being a softer lead they wear down much faster making it necessary to resharpen more often. I do prefer the Uni lead holder over the Staedtler. Mainly because Uni's holder is available with clear markings of which lead is in the holder. So the Uni is my second choice for drawing lead.

What can I say, it's a lead holder, If you like 2mm lead holders this isn't the Cadillac of lead holders but it will work very well especially for the price. If your looking to start with 2mm lead holders this is a great one to start with

This is a great example of a classic clutch Mech. And anybody that knows anything about Mechs also knows that this design ‘is’ and always will be the best (Go To) form when you need to mix comfort, grip, and simplicity, in a streamlined pencil. Now I have read a couple reviews on this mech that feels it fell short of what they were expecting. First off, this mech only falls short if you were expecting it to actually draw for you. Or was you expecting it to cook you a dinner? Listen, this is a fine pencil. If you have issues with it, then you really need to work on your own skills. I would definitely place this mech in par with the “Koh-I-Noor Rapid-O-Matic” line of Mechs, and would make a great partner piece for that set. The “Uni” Mitsubishi brand pencils have always been a champion in the ring. This 2.0 Uni feels great in the hand. It has a very nice metal grip. Yes, the body is plastic, but this isn’t a cheap plastic here. This is a nice plastic that will last for decades. The clip feels firm/sturdy for those that care about that, though I feel that’s a futile point. The “metal” clutch feels very strong and I haven’t noticed any lead slipping while adding excessive vertical pressure. You would break the lead before the clutch grip would fail. Anybody adding that much pressure should really think about buying more B scale leads and dropping those H scales in a drawer some place. Now, you should always choose a pencil that best suits your needs and feels more comfortable in your hand. Everybody will have a personal preference when it comes to what feels better. But this mech is the all around best design in general. Plus it’s made by a premium brand name that I feel never fails me. And this pencil isn’t very expensive when you compare the prices on a lot of the best Mechs on the market. Most of the greatest mechanical pencils will run you 10 to 50 dollars. Some very good ones even being priced as low as 6 or 7 dollars. So would I suggest this pencil to other buyers? Definitely. Is there cheaper options that is as good? Yes, there is cheaper pencils that will work fine, but you need to make sure the cheaper mech you buy, isn’t one of the bad ones. This is where finding a brand that you can trust comes into play. And I know that (UNI Mitsubishi) pencils has been a trusted name for years. I hope this review helps you with finding the right mech for you personally, even if it isn’t this specific pencil here.

It’s enjoyable to use and smooth. It is only the pen with the one lead, the first time I ordered it got lost and had to be reordered.

I'm glad that Amazon offers 2mm 4H leads for sale at a great price - I paid less for (6) leads than other vendors were charging for (2) leads + shipping. But all (6) leads arrived broken. They're still usable, I'll just need to reload twice as often. The hardness and darkness of the lines matches what I expected for 4H.

Bought this holder for my wife, as I am partial to the Staedtler metal holders and the Faber-Castell plastic holders. It is surprising light and sturdy for the price. Works very well, but doesn't have the comfort of some competing models. I find that for my hands there are a few positions in which the pen just feels a little awkward. This could just be my preference.However, for the price it is an amazing deal, slightly better than the Staedtler Mars Technico but cheaper.

Excellent Mechs for a fantastic price. I ordered both the universal and red versions, both quickly grew on me. That said, their graphite isn't the best - you'll want to swap it out for something nicer like a Steadtler refill. Speaking of Steadtler, these also fit perfectly into the Steadtler 502 manual pencil sharpener. Will likely add more of these to my collection!

First time using this couch pencil and it's amazing solid led and I love the fact I can extend the led 2 inches away so I can see what I am sketching. But beware buy the sharpener you will need it. Other then that this pencil with sharpener gets pretty sharp you could hunt with it!!!

This lead is very smooth despite being a hard grade - really good.

These leads are fantastic, the smoothest I have come across, but at 86p a lead, they are not cheap.They work fine in any 2mm clutch pencil, although you may need to pull off the little colour-coded plastic ring on the back end, designed to keep them from completely falling out of your pencil.

These leads are very good, especially for the price. They came from Japan in a reasonable time given the distance and the postal strike that was going on in Canada at the time. They come in a nice plastic case that protects them during shipping. Highly recommended.

Great quality product. Sender included a very friendly thank you note written in good English and a nice little candy treat! The Japanese are so respectful!

Inexpensive H leads with just the right hardness, according to my judgement. It comes with a handy neat plastic case.
