Following on from the Japanese 'Speed Jigging' craze, the new method of 'Slow Jigging' is proving far more popular and successful for our UK species. Similar in basic principle, but rather than working the jig fast, in a cyclical 'crank and jig' motion, Slow Jigging involves working the jigs close to the bottom in a more relaxed fashion, allowing the lighter, wider jigs to rise and 'flutter' back down, which most predatory fish find irresistible. As one the pioneers of Speed Jigging in the UK, we have been using this 'Slow Jigging' technique on our own test boat 'Deep Blue3' for the past 5 or 6 years and it has proved to be a highly effective method for cod and other bottom-dwelling species. The new Kuroshio 'Black Tide' Slow Jigging Rods are ultra-lightweight for all day fishing comfort but use high modulus carbon for a fast, powerful action, to impart maximum movement to the jigs. The graphite reel seat and low-rider style guides are equally at home using either a conventional multiplier reel or turn the rod up the other way and team it up with one of the new generation fixed spool Jigging reels. At 6ft 6in they are the ideal length for Slow Jigging - long enough to 'work' the jig effectively, but short enough to apply pressure to set the hook, when the inevitable 'smash takes' occur. Our range includes 3 models; an ultra-lightweight jigging rod, rated for lines of 8-15lbs and jigs of 30-100g, a medium weight rod, rated for lines of 15-25lbs and jigs of 70-120g and a heavyweight model, rated for lines of 20-35lbs and jigs of 130-200g. These three models cover all requirements from ultra-lightweight, shallow water reef fishing, through jigging for bass on inshore wrecks, when they shoal-up in the autumn, to wreck fishing, in deeper water, where heavier jigs are needed, to get down fast. The 2-pce blanks, break down at the handle to a convenient 58" for travelling and are finished in a lustrous black with subtle self-color whippings and gold trim. The high density foam grips offer all day comfort and warmth, for winter fishing. The rods come in a nylon rod bag, with mesh front to allow them to dry naturally, plus a hanging loop for easy storage. LRF... but from a boat! There is certainly more to slow jigging than meets the eye; do it wrong and you may as well use conventional methods, but do it right and it can, without doubt, be the most deadly, effective and exciting fishing method, for a vast array of species - Pollack, cod, ling, whiting and even bass! Aboard our own test vessel, Deep Blue3, for the past 8 years we have fished jigs almost to the exclusion of every other fishing method and proved time and time again, that it will out-fish most other methods, including long flowing traces with artificial sandeels or shads. Come complete with a nylon rod bag, with mesh front to allow them to dry naturally, plus a hanging loop for easy storage.

Nice rod
Nice rod. The end eye had a knick in it which cut my braid on 3 occasions. placed the eye and all good now

Light and strong.
Great rod, used for two seasons so far with doit flutter jigs plus a teaser lure or three it's handled anything that gets on the hook and it's so light paired with a 4000 penn clash that one handed jigging is easy for hours. Species on the rod so far include Tope, Cod, Ling, Pollock, Coalfish, Mackerel and even Shark and Skate all on flutter lures. I will admit that it would be a long fight with a decent size Porbeagle but it's definitely possible I feel. Tope are great fun on this though and I would think Blue sharks would be too with say a 6000 size reel and a slow fall jig when there is mackerel about.
