Michell (the great English-language guru of Indian architecture) and Martinelli (superb architectural photography) - one needs to write no more. In any case, I've reviewed my own copy of this book for Amazon before: this one was for a present to one who adores India.

A very informative, thick and large book. Has TONS of info for anyone that is interested in architecture, history, or in India in particular. Also includes many of the floor plans and multiple photos of some of the same Palaces. If you are intersted in this subject, well worth your while.Enjoy

Whoa! Enlightening & astounding. But be careful: this book will make you pack your bags & purchase a ticket to timeless India. Awesome photos and superb subject matter..
