Riedel Swirl Red Wine

Now these glasses. I got them as a gift for a friend and we occisionally get to have wine with them and they are fantastic. They are high quality, the are lightweight and are super easy to hold, even with a little lightness of the head, the look amazing and very impressive. Overall 5 solid stars.

I love them so much, I have ordered 2 sets of these already. The glass quality is unmatched, just as all Riedel glassware is. The glass elevates the wine. The size is perfect for reds or a heavy poor of white (who am I to judge). The curve of the glass is perfect for a thumb hold, making it easier to grasp in comparison to glasses without the curve. These are nice glasses at a great price. They have the classic Riedel quality, but stemless is nice for stability. The swirl design is new to me, but I've come to enjoy it.My only possible complaint is that they are deceptively large and it's quite easy to over pour... But hey, sometimes a ten ounce pour is just what is needed...

These glasses are very comfortable in your hand and have the feel and look of quality crystal.

So far these glasses have met my expectations. They are very light and sheer (as are every Riedel glasses that I have used). The amazon label and description list them as a red wine glass. The Riedel box lists them as an all purpose glass. I agree with the latter. I was a bit surprised at the opening being only 2.5". Seemed a bit small for red wine (but they are "swirl" glasses and not "red wine glasses"). I do not claim to be an expert but there is definitely a difference albeit subtle. As I said, these glasses are very nice with the proper expectation. The are certainly not top of the line but the price reflects that and they work very well. The bottom "bowl" is plenty large for the red wine to breath and it contains even quite vigorous swirling. The pinch is narrow enough that my wife can comfortably hold the glass with her smaller hands. These were priced fare more economically than my "fine wine" glasses but that also means that I will use them much more often without the concern of breaking a $50 glass. These glasses enhance my Tuesday wined without stress. I am happy with the quality and this price point.

I absolutely enjoy using these glasses to drink wine. They are delicate, so care needs to be taken to avoid chipping the lip of the glass as it can happen…trust me. But, these are so nice I immediately purchased replacements. Highly recommended hand washing only; if only to help prevent damage.

We first used these in an Italian restaurant in Prague. Couldn't wait to come home and order them for our home. I have given these many times as gifts. I know wine connoisseurs love the stemmed glasses but I hate having to hand wash those glasses. We love drinking wine or water from these fabulous glasses.
