Works very well, bright & cost effective!!!
I ordered 2 of these units to install on the front of my house since our neighbors car was broken into a few weeks ago. We ordered these units to use as intruder deterrents as well as a light source for when we come home. Our front door is covered by roof overhang and at night it is really difficult to see the front door locks (to be able to insert keys to gain entry). I installed the first unit underneath the roof overhang and it now illuminates the front door when someone approaches. What I really liked about these units is that you get a long cord (15ft) to connect the solar panel, which i installed on top of our roof to get maximum sun exposure. The solar panel has its own mounting bracket with 4 screws (provided) and I could easily mount it with enough flexibility to angle the panel to face the sun. I installed the second unit above our garage and at night it illuminates the area in front of the garage where we park our cars. The units are solidly built, the LED housing is metal with a glass panel (not plastic!). When I unpacked both units it does say in the manual to charge each unit for 3 days! but when I flicked the on/off switch both units turned on! It was useful to see the units turn on before installing them to check all the LEDs worked as I read some folks received units with defective LEDs. The installation process was pretty simple, no major issues, there is a single U-shaped bracket that I mounted on the wall with 2 screws (provided), then I attached the unit with the 2 wingnuts, you can adjust the angle of the light only up & down (a small limitation depending on how you install it). The sensor on the bottom adjusts in all directions (left, right, up & down). According to the manual the sensor has a range of 36ft and when I tested the light for the first time in the dark it is pretty much around that range. You can also adjust the length of time the light stays on (from 8 seconds to 2 minutes) and lastly you can also adjust the sensor sensitivity (from turning on during the day to only turning on at night - complete darkness). I have had both units installed on my house for 2 weeks now and they work just fine, they both turn on in the dark (as per my settings) when someone triggers the motion sensors, they stay illuminated for the amount of time I set them to and they are very bright! According to the manual you can replace the NiHM batteries if they don't hold a charge anymore and I believe the light uses 4 rechargeable AA batteries. The only "small" complaint I have is that the units emit a "blue-ish" colored light only because they are LEDs and not a more natural-colored light like incandescent or CFL lights, but they function as they should and all powered by the sun!!!Update 9/20/2018: I bought & installed both units exactly 5 yrs ago and I have to say I am extremely impressed by continuous functionality and quality of build! Both units are working as they should just like the day I installed them, all LEDs are still shining brightly and battery charge through solar panels are still keeping these lights working!!!

Minor Quirks but overall pretty sweet! **UPDATE - 1 year quit working
*****So I have been using this solar security light for a couple of months now and I am impressed.Pros:It works.Easy to install.About a 15' cable from the solar panel to the light.Decent amount of light.Decent run time/battery life.Great motion sensitivity.Adjustable motion sensitivity, illumination time and darkness level to activation.Sturdy.Very adjustable motion sensor on a ball swivel.ZERO ELECTRICITY!----Cons:It shipped in it's own flimsy box with very little padding. It should have been double-boxed. I imagine 3/10 of these will be damaged in shipping because of this. I got lucky as my box was torn and beat up but somehow it wasn't damaged.Because the actual light is only adjustable up and down, placement will be tricky and depending on where you want the light to shine, you will have to angle the whole light unit, making it look odd. It is too bad the light is not also on a ball swivel like the motion sensor. The three adjustable settings knobs are very small, hard to see and seem flimsy - be careful. It will take a couple of placements and adjusting the settings to get the exact perfect performance you want out of the light.----Overall I am very impressed and will buy at least one more of these lights. The light is on par with probably a 25-watt incandescent bulb or maybe slightly more. The light is a bright-white-bluish LED type electronic light. It is nothing like a regular light bulb. The full charge seems to last a long time based on my testing. It works every time I want it to. It hasn't died on me yet - but I don't need constant light. I will post an update after one year of usage.*****UPDATEThis light quite working after about a year. I went up on a ladder to adjust the "light on" time to something longer than 30 seconds, and boom - it never worked again after that no matter how many adjustments I made. I ended up throwing it away. Bummer!

are built very sturdily and are easy to install and set up
These lights deliver exactly as promised. They have a wide range of settings, are built very sturdily and are easy to install and set up. Keep in mind though, because they are LED lights, they are very bright to look at directly, but they don't throw the light as great a distance as incandescent lighting. I have one attached to my gate throwing light towards my car which is about 30 feet away, and is more than sufficient for that application. I have another set up on a pole to light up my 100-foot back yard for when I take my dogs out at night, and it is just bright enough that I can see the dogs when they are at the extreme back of the yard. All in all, a very good light for the price, and a very handy asset to any yard.

Five Stars
Does the job and no mains power needed

Bright enough
This lamp is fitted to the outside of my workshop down the end of the garden. The light is good for a solar powered lamp but does not match a mains powered light. As good as can be expected - reasonable value, offers sufficient light to see about 20 m.
