Nature's Root Broccoli Sprout Seeds (Raab)

Native to the Mediterranean, our Italian raab or rapini is one of the most popular vegetables in Europe, Hong Kong and Asia and is widely used in Italian cuisine. In other parts of the world, it is still a little curious.

Unlike regular broccoli, which belongs to the cabbage family, broccoli raab is related to turnip. It grows in the same way as sprouted broccoli, but the leaves look like turnip leaves. The taste is between broccoli and spinach, but with shades of mustard leaves with a hint of nutty sweetness. Our broccoli sprouts grow well in a pot or sprout tray.

Days to germinate:

- Germination: 4-5 days

- Soaking time 2-4 hours
- Yield: 1 tablespoon of dried seeds gives approx. 3-4 cups of sprouts

Storage: Our seeds should germinate well for a year after purchase, if stored in a cool, dry place. To extend the life of your seeds, store them in the refrigerator, or even longer, in the freezer.

Germination directions:

Soak for 2 to 4 hours: Put 1-2 tablespoons. seed in a wide-mouth pot. Cover the pot with a screen - secure with a rubber band. Add water, stir and drain. Fill the pot with water. Soak the seeds for 2 to 4 hours. Drain the water well and invert the jar at an angle in a sink or bowl.

Rinse twice a day: Rinse the seeds by filling the pot with water and shaking them gently. Drain well and turn the pot.

Ready to eat in 4-5 days: To maintain freshness, refrigerate well-drained shoots. Shoots are best preserved when dry enough; do not store them immediately after rinsing.
