Nice item. Some have questioned the quality compared with the original items that are no doubt being replaced, but I have to say that the quality seems up to scratch to me. Yes, the plastic parts such as the switches themselves are a little lighter, however, plastics technology has moved on in the last 20 years so this doesn't mean that it is lower quality or less durable just because it feels lighter. Also, how robust do you need these to be? This is up to the job in my view. Some have said the screw threads are a different size - mine fit the old back box just fine, but if they had been different, then of course just use the old screws. The visible screws on the unit are not the screws that screw in to the back box - these are just the screws that hold the front plate to the frame of the unit, so if your screws are tarnished, don't worry, you will use the new visible screws - the ones that may need to re-use are the ones behind the plate that you can't see once fitted.I read a review elsewhere that said that the central piece where the socket and switches are moved about a bit and didn't seem well mounted. In fact this would happen if those hidden screws were not screwed in far enough. The visible screws are quite short so if you screw the main screws in too far, they short screws won't reach their sockets when you try to fit the face plate. However, if you don't screw them in far enough, when you come to fit the face plate, the short screws become fully screwed in before they tighten the face plate to the wall. The point here is that those final few turns when you tighten the plate to the wall have the effect of pulling the back plate forward thus tensioning the hidden main screws. This in turn holds that middle part tight.I preferred the old unit without the neon indicators, but that is all that is available these days. My only criticism is the off white colour - it could have been a brighter white. It's in much better stat than my old unit but it doesn't really look new. The main reason I had to replace was because the old socket had become unserviceable and at least I can now use this one. If you need one - get one; the quality is fine.

Back box would be useful
Back box not supplied with this product which is a bit annoying when you try to swap an older MK version and the screw sizes are different. So I needed to do some extra DIY to fit the panel neatly.Otherwise the product itself is good, sturdy and does the job!

Quality
This is a quality item, the old fashioned kind really well built and does what it says on the tin. More expensive than some but quality costs that bit more.

I would think twice when buying what i thought to be a Brittish
Not as good as the quality of the same product thirty years ago.

Necessary good evil
4 stars because they're still selling this ancient piece of electric part.Like many others chiseled out the included screws to reuse the old imperial ones. Not 5 stars because the order of the screws means the structure somewhat "floats" and is more inconvenient to align and screw than the 30+ yr old model it replaces

Exactly what I needed
I was surprised to see that they still made these and brought to replace one that as far as I'm aware was the original from a 1965 build house . Looks nice , clean and fresh and of course works perfectly
