Become a trig master in no time! Most math and science study guides are a reflection of the college professors who write them: dry, difficult, and pretentious. The Humongous Book of Trigonometry Problems is the exception. Author Mike Kelley has taken what appears to be a typical trigonometry workbook, chock full of solved problems— more than 750! —and made notes in the margins adding missing steps and simplifying concepts and solutions, so what would be baffling to students is made perfectly clear. No longer will befuddled students wonder where a particular answer came from or have to rely on trial and error to solve problems. And by learning how to interpret and solve problems as they are presented in a standard trigonometry course, students become fully prepared to solve those difficult, obscure problems that were never discussed in class but always seem to find their way onto exams. Review: Great book and series! - Michael Kelley's series is the best. I have used some of his other books (Algebra and Calculus) as tutoring aids. I needed to replace the Calculus and Algebra books, so I bought this one as well.It did not disappoint. Like his other books, Kelley uses LOTS of examples and problems and they all have good explanations. For example, I was tutoring someone last night who was struggling with a Trig problem that required factoring. We talked through how to factor, and when I turned to that section in Kelley's book, there were a few problems that required factoring, and Kelley walked the reader through factoring! Review: Just believe the hype - My child is in 8th grade and it really helped. I also had to sit with my child when I was teaching from this book. I also learned a lot from this book and it refreshed a lot of my concepts. It really gave my child a good confidence. You can't go wrong with this book. I would highly suggest it for 8th and 9th graders.

NIce detailed explanations
I liked the detailed explanations. It seems to have been well proofread but I have found an error on page 123 , in the first line of text which says To calculate sin theta ( and its reciprocal sec theta ). This is wrong. The reciprocal of sin is the cosecant.

Thorough But Understandable
I used this book, along with others from the same author, to review math work I did in high school and college. It covers everything a high school trigonometry course could conceivably include, but builds up very gradually, so you don't get lost. I highly recommend it. For the price, it is a steal!

A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR SERIOUS MATH STUDENTS.
I HAVE FOUND THE BOOK VERY WELL DONE AS WELL AS ENJOYABLE AND EDUCATIONAL. I AM USING IT AS A RECREATIONAL REVIEW AND A CHALLENGE IN MY OLD AGE. AS A RETIRED MATH TEACHER WITH 38 YEARS ON THE JOB FROM 2O YEARS AGO, I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BOOK TO A MOTIVATED STUDENT WHO WAS WILLING TO PUT THE TIME IN TO SUCCEED. CONGRATULATIONS TO MR KELLEY ON A FINE EFFORT TO HELP STUDENTS WHO ARE LOOKING TO HELP THEMSELVES. I ANTICIPATE DOING THE REST OF THE SERIES. MY GOAL: EVERY PAGE, EVERY PROBLEM, A HUMONGOUS TASK!

So Much More Than a Math Textbook!!!
I had never been moved to laugh out loud by a math book until reading this one. Kelley provides crystal clear explanations laced with a dry wit that actually makes the highly repetitive practice needed to master trig almost enjoyable. This is not your typical math textbook where even after reading through a chapter you might be just as lost as when you started because it assumes too much prior knowledge. At the same time, nothing in this book feels so dumbed down as to be patronizing. I highly recommend it for both trig beginners as well as people brushing up on old trig concepts to make calculus classes easier.

Great guide
This was a great review of how trigonometry works. I especially like that the text clearly spells every single step out in notes in the margins - if you get it you can skim through, but if you are confused you can read more for a far more in-depth explanation. In addition, I appreciated that the book includes sections on polar coordinates, which often get overlooked.

Organised around training even someone of no maths experience
I have several books on trigonometry and I have come to a roadblock with each of them because the authors throw you unexpected curve balls or introduce subjects without explanations. This book uses technical terms and formulas but thoroughly explains each concept . I have not read the whole book but am working my way through it. So far I am pleasantly surprised at how much I am able to absorb and enjoy. I would recommend this book and it's author wholeheartedly. Jim

Very good for self-study/self-review
This book is part of a series by mathematics teacher Michael Kelly which covers most of the high school mathematics curriculum. Like his other books, this book contains a large set of problems in 18 chapters covering the standard elements of a trigonometry course. The main strength of this book are the problems. The student is encouraged to work through the problems on their own, while Kelly provides worked out solutions in a lot of detail. This book does not replace mathematics textbooks which supply the relevant theory, but as every mathematics teacher knows, the only way to learn mathematics is to do the problems. This book is an excellent resource for students who are doing trigonometry in their school classes, as well as for college students or adults who are preparing for more advanced mathematics courses in calculus or linear algebra, which require a sound knowledge of basic math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
