Retro-Bit Official SEGA Mega Drive USB Controller 8-Button Arcade Pad for PC, Mac, Steam, RetroPie, Raspberry Pi - USB Port - Black

I read some of the other reviews here saying it was a good quality reproduction. And I agree, it feels very faithful. The buttons have a bit more travel than I'm used to with modern console controllers, but it's accurate to what I remember from back in the day. The button-feel of the controller itself is almost nostalgic. The d-pad is also a welcome improvement over my xbox360 controller. Feels nice. Good build quality. Windows picks it up just fine, no need for additional software. The only regrettable part is how awkward this is to use with games where you hold the run button with the lower part of your thumb and hit jump with the top part (or other hold & press scenarios)... it works, but it feels gross and clumsy because of how the buttons are aligned, and their different sizes. Not the fault of the controller as such, since it's part of the original design, so I'm not deducting any stars. It's just something I hadn't considered.

Item arrived exactly as described, new and unopened. Works well with Sega Mega Drive Mini. The 'Mode' button brings up the Mega Drive Mini's menu without the need to hold 'Start' which is necessary with the 3 button (bundled) controller. This 8 button (10 button including 'Start' and 'Mode') Retro-Bit Sega Mega Drive controller exceeded expectations which is rare in the current climate. Very pleased with it. Buttons feel solid and positive. Glossy D-Pad is superior in feel to the bundled Mega Drive Mini 1 controller's mushy, matte D-Pad. Brown cardboard would have been better inside the box environmentally.

As an enhanced reproduction of the original Mega Drive 6-button pad, Retro-Bit have knocked it out of the park. The pad looks and, most importantly, feels just like the controller that is is replicating. The buttons are responsive and the d-pad is light and feels great for doing fighting game motions. So why not five stars? The way the buttons are mapped in Windows is weird, and a bit of a problem for some games (typically old ones) that don't allow button remapping. MY SLS Saturn pad maps A, B, C, X, Y, Z to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, which is what most old games I've played expect. This pad maps them to 2, 3, 5, 1, 4, 6. I'm really not sure of the logic of mapping them that way. EDIT: A follow up. After seeing quite a lot of use in the last year my A-button has started to get sticky, and I could not find an easy solution after taking the pad apart. I've ended up using the buttons and rubber part from a broken original Sega pad to fix this, but that's not going to be a solution for most people. Neither my original 6-button pads or my SLS Saturn pad have developed this problem. Also, echoing some other reviews, the d-pad is a lot looser than that in the original pads. In fact, I don't think the build quality is as good as the original's in general: they've obviously used the same moulds as they're part compatible, but some of the plastic (d-pad) doesn't seem as durable and the inside parts aren't cut from the moulds as cleanly as the originals. Still a good, comfortable, pad, but sadly not quite as good or durable as I originally thought. Still a good pad, but not as good as the original.

I purchases a megadrive mini few months ago but it came out with 3 buttons controller which I really dont mind as at the time it was the standard controller for the Megadrive when it come out in the early 90s in Europe. The feel and look of the control its very similar to the original with added shoulder buttons. I tested it games like Street fighters 2" and works excellent. very precise and feels good in the hands (slightly smaller compared to the 3 buttons controller). Its a must have for all old school gamers that still enjoy playing games of the 16 bit era :) Works great on PC too so if you dont own a megadrive mini it still work the purchase to use on computer.

This controller is absolutely amazing and is definitely my recommendation if you're planning to play Mega Drive games on your PC. The buttons feel great and the D-pad is nice to use and I've had no true issues with the controller itself- the functions though. My only issue is that the page on Amazon states that you have to hold Start for 5 seconds to swap between D-input and X-input, that is false, you have to actually hold Start+B for 5 seconds- this also means that any games that use a Start+button input (Sonic The Hedgehog) don't work as the input won't register. EDIT: The cable in mine has become damaged and has started to stop being recognised by the computer at certain angles, shame.

Made with lighter plastic than the old controller but feels almost exactly the same, and works a treat. I have an 8bitdo 2.4ghz as well which is great but I think I prefer this for feel. I can hadouken to my heart's content. Disclaimer: only had them for a couple of months though so time will tell if the buttons and D-pads keep on going..

I absolutely love this, I’ve been waiting so long for a decent megadrive pad for my raspberry pi because my 8bitdo SNES one just didn’t feel right playing Sega. Build quality is very good and I’m not bothered it’s wired as it keeps things simple (although I’ve never had problems connecting my 8bitdo one to the Pi, I’ve heard others have had problems). I don’t have an original megadrive pad to compare it to but feels close enough to my memories, the dpad never did feel as accurate as the SNES pads. Just wish I could use it on my PS4 or Switch.

With less than 80 hours of use this controller's Dpad broke, the physical Dpad actually broke underneath once I opened it up. It's actually a very cheap controller but priced very high. Can't cost more than £4 in materials. It's graphite contacts and very cheap plastic underneath. However, the buttons and overall feel when using it is solid, it's just that Dpad which broke for seemingly no reason, costing me 2 ranked matches in Street Fighter V. It works without issues as a direct input device, but considering that this is an 8 button controller without any wireless capabilities, no analog sticks, no pressure-sensitive buttons or triggers etc. it's very low cost to make and so for £18 it's an absolute joke, especially considering that it doesn't even last.

Die Lieferung ging schnell und die Verpackung kam heil bei mir an. Als ich die Verpackung in den Händen hielt, fühlte ich mich direkt in meine Kindheit zurück versetzt. Obwohl es sich "nur" um ein offiziell lizenziertes Produkt von Sega handelt, fühlt sich alles Orignal und extrem Wertigkeit an. Es gibt keine übertrieben große Spalte, die Druckpunkte der Tasten sind perfekt. Es fühlt sich an, wie das Original aus den 90er Jahren. Das Paf liegt noch immer sehr geschmeidig in den Händen, obwohl ich den Eindruck hatte, dass dieses Pad gegenüber dem original jener Zeit etwas kleiner geworden ist. Sicher bin ich mir dabei nicht, tut meinem Gesamteindruck keinen Abbruch. Dadurch dass man das 6 Button Layout zur Verfügung hat, fällt das Tasten umschalten für einige Mega Drive Spiele weg. Eine Verzögerung bei der Eingabe konnte ich ebensowenig feststellen, wie unangenehmes Knarksen beim Spielen. Ein perfekter Nachbau von Sega Lizensiert. Besser geht es nicht mehr und ist jeden Cent wert!

Ottimo controller, replica dell'originale a 6 tasti, ben assemblato con plastiche di qualità, prodotto con licenza ufficiale SEGA. Acquistato per usarlo al posto di quelli in dotazione con la console Sega Megadrive mini. Collegato alla console, ha subito funzionato senza nessun tipo di problema. I pulsanti e la croce direzionale rispondano bene. I 3 metri di cavo consentono di giocare comodamente e alla giusta distanza, rendendo anche possibile collocare la console nella posizione più adatto, mentre gli ulteriori tre tasti, permettono di giocare al meglio alcuni titoli. Non ho riscontrato difetti, soldi spesi senza rimpianti, un acquisto che rifarei volentieri.

Parfait pour émulateurs sur PC. Plug-and-play, bonne qualité de la manette, très bonne représentation de la manette d'origine, les touches réagissent bien, le câble à une longueur de 3 m, rien a dire que du positif pour le moment.

Headline says it all. Was the 6-button controller "back in the day" this small? I don't know, I never had one, but this one feels a bit on the small size for my giant hands. But... you know... the buttons work, so it does the job!
