Worth the price
I needed sturdy trekking poles. I weigh 195 lbs, and I read all the reviews for poles poles starting in the $30-40 range and moved up from there. I spent hours looking, and found two common complaints for lower-priced poles: the locks tend to slip and the carbon poles tend to break. Both conditions can be dangerous. These were the least expensive poles I could find that did not have those complaints. There were some reviews that people only got one, or even no poles in the shipment, but these were older reviews. After receiving and testing these poles, I can say they feel very sturdy. I tightened the locks once, then adjusted them once, and now they do not slip even with substantial weight on them. On a recent hike I depended on them for some technical terrain, the the held well and felt firm. I elected to pay a little more and get the cork grips, and I am glad I did. In the southern Appalachians where I live it can get pretty warm, and the cork grips cost about the same as a pair of gloves. I am pleased with the purchase.

Lightweight, durable, and well made
These Black Diamond Trail trekking poles are lightweight, high quality, and feel very dependable on the trail. They are easy to carry and sturdy enough that I feel confident using them on uneven ground. I especially like the natural cork grips. They hold up well, feel comfortable in the hand, and do not develop the same odor issue I have noticed with neoprene-style grips. I also prefer aluminum poles because they feel strong and dependable, and I like knowing they are less likely to shatter under traumatic stress compared with carbon fiber. Overall, these are excellent trekking poles for hiking and outdoor use. They feel well made, practical, and built to last.
