The boards are plastic coated, good assortment of standard sizes. The dowels on the other hand, I wouldn’t use again. Just get some plastic straws that are pretty sturdy and you’ll have an easier time. I cut myself pretty bad trying to get through these ones.

I had a good laugh reading the reviews for this product. This is a cake board that is designed to be trimmed down to the size of the cake and should not show. As you can’t see in my photo, there is a cake board under the each cake. I then bought a separate cake drum to display the cake on. Also moisture will always seep from your cake as it goes in and out of the fridge. You want these boards to get greasy and take on the excess moisture rather than the cake crumbling.

Good to support my multi level cakes. Sturdy cardboard. Just a little bigger that the size of my cakes according to size of the cake pans.

I used these boards to build a four layer cake, freezing the layers on them to keep them flat until I built the cake.

I used these boards and dowels to create my brother's wedding cake and bride & groom mini cake. The main cake was sitz layers, so I trimmed dowels with a steak knife for the bottom three layers before adding one of the cake boards and more layers to effectively make two cakes in one. I also used a single dowel in the mini cake (three layers) to prevent sliding while it set. This set was a great deal for the price and the dowels were sturdy without being impossible to trim and both the boards and dowels were a nice thickness.

Product performs as advertised. I am a hobby baker. It is nice to get a small assortment vs having to purchase large quantities of a single size. Dowels are sturdy, but easy to size.

DOESNT HOLD UP WELL
