Beatrix Potter Collectibles: the Peter Rabbit Story Characters (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

comprehensive guide to this popular area of collecting based on Beatrix Potter's children's books
Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" wasn't published until 1902, so collectibles springing from it couldn't be too old. Many of these have not appeared until the 1980s and '90s when there was a wave of renewed interest in this venerable children's book. Many of these plates, mugs, and other ceramic items with illustrations of the characters or in the shape of them have held their value in the range from $50.00 to $200.00. Early items from about the 1920s sell in this range too, except for a few rare and especially desirable items such as a biscuit tin for about $400.00 and a doll with a value of $5,000.00. Some other early doll characters can fetch in the few hundreds. All of these varied items throughout the 20th century are photographed in clear color photos with brief captions and in most cases estimated prices. Introductory chapters by the leading collector and author of previous books Debby Dubay treat the publishing history of Potter's children's books, the course of interest in these and related collectibles, and the varied kinds of items and their makers. The up-to-date, comprehensive guide is the fundamental introduction and reference for the Peter Rabbit collectibles.

Love Debby DuBay's new book on Potter! A must for the collector!
This charming book opens with Debby DuBay chatting away on how she met the Miss Potter and collector of today - Kara Sewall. I love this book and highly recommend it to all collectors, Peter Rabbit and Potter fans. Thanks to Debby DuBay for another charming book; she has a unique way of inviting us into her life and the lives of her friends and then getting us addicted to whatever the subject is that she is documenting. I am now a Limoges and Potter collector.

Great Price Guide for 1970s-2002 Beatrix Potter collectibles.
Dubay's Beatrix Potter Collectibles is a true documentation of not only Kara Sewall's collection but the essence of Kara's charm and life style. The human interest story in this book is inspiring, Dubay a veteran, Sewall an MS victim, and the subject matter of this book leaves the reader feeling happy along with wanting more. I only wish Ms. Dubay would have included the collections of other Potter collectors who have more of the early Potter pieces - other than that I highly recommend this book - and love the fact that it is a price guide - and this fact alone makes it a must for the collectors library!

The first price guide for Beatrix Potter collectibles. A must for the collector!
Great book on Potter collectibles. I purchased this book because it is another book by Debby DuBay photographed by Linda Britt and in true DuBay style - I was charmed by Kara Sewall's collection and renewed in my interest of Potter collectibles. Highly recommend this book for the collector of Potter from 1970 to 2002. I hope Debby can write another book - on Potter or Limoges - I love her style of photographing great pieces and then providing the price. This is the only price guide I could find and it is very helpful. Highly recommend.
