We have another Hauck stairgate in a doorframe on toddler's bedroom which is great, so bought this for our second child as it seemed to be the most similar thing on the market. Unfortunately the locking mechanism has changed to a lift-up-gate mechanism rather than squeezing two sides at once and just swinging open. This is much harder to do with one hand than the previous model. It is also very fiddly to set up, everything needs to be in sub-millimetre alignment for it to actually auto-lock with a little magnet, so we have at best 50/50 success on that. It also makes a noise when it closes before locking (when it does actually lock) with a loud click. Not great when you are trying to sneak out of room having got toddler to sleep. So all in all, we would try a different make now rather than this

Very strong and closes automatically very pleased with this product so bought two.

Easy to fit, but didn't realise the self close, which is a pain as we use to stop the dog at night coming up stairs so not used during the day. Secure and lock is good

A little tricky to set up but, once you've sussed it and you're confident in what you're doing, it's easy to install and use. The gate has a very safe, self-locking mechanism which gives security and peace of mind.

Very easy to install but the instructions supplied are pretty poor. It comes with screws which I assume it for people who wants to screw this into the wall however I believe this is optional as it can be used as a pressure fitted one which is what I wanted due to not wanting to leave holes in my wall. Took me a bit of time to actually fit it but that was basically down to my awkward stairs so has trouble fitting. Eventually found a way around it and now it’s up it seems very sturdy and very easy to use.

Easy to fit but had to make adjustments as it kept coming loose. The lock feature is good as the gate closes behind you.

It's not a bad one, however it's quite difficult to open using one hand only (as a parent we are often holding the baby with another hand). The lock became a bit faulty over the time, nothing that makes it impossible to use, but it became even more difficult to open, so I wouldn't recomend this one.

It is a great looking stairgate but it does not auto swing closed as it should and just stays open (see picture). Also the gate lock does not line up correctly also preventing the gate from auto-closing (see picture). The gate serves a purpose but it would be better if it worked as it should. Delivered on time and in good condition.
