My husband has been using Grandpa's Pine Tar soap for years, as he has some tactile issues and sensitive skin. I also have sensitive skin, and my hands get extremely dry during the winter so I've actually started using the Pine Tar as well. The scent does take some getting used to, as it's reminiscent of a car air freshener. But once you get past that, it's really hard to put it down.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I think this one will save some of you from getting something you aren't interested in. Upon opening the package, there is definitely a strong scent...even before opening the actual product packaging. It isn't pine tree, it's definitely camp fire. Like the way your clothes smell after sitting around a campfire...and strong.1) Soap - relatively strong smell on the bar, but after rinsing only a mild smoky/woodsy smell left on skin.2) Shampoo - VERY strong campfire smell. Lathers okay, thin (non-viscous) product. Hair definitely retains the campfire smell.3) Conditioner - still has the campfire smell, but you get the pine tree/sap scent as well. Very thick consistency - think cake frosting.So I bought this because I didn't want to risk the carcinogenic effects of coal tar shampoo (Tgel), so we'll see how this affects my scalp. Not really a big fan of the scent, but I may see if using a different conditioner in combination with the shampoo will help.

Smells pretty good if you’re into sitting on the down wind side of a camp fire, the bar smells so strong out of the box it smelled like i was burning something in my bathroom, the shampoo and conditioner are much easier to take in and they make your hair very very soft

Have always used the soap never the shampoo or conditioner I bought this combo and was not disappointed in the shampoo and conditioner they both are great just like the soap

One use and I’m sold for life. Have had an annoying and persistent case of Seborrheic dermatitis. Doctors couldn’t clear it up even with their prescription steroids and special prescription shampoo, all it did was make it worse and dryer and more scaly. One use of this stuff and it was gone? I’m not even sure if that’s actually scientifically possible after one use, but it did. After first use, scalp got pretty itchy but haven’t had that since.Smell is WONDERFUL. I’d buy it if it were a candle. Strong smell very much so, but mellows out quickly after shower if you’re not a fan of the smell.

I’m changing my rating on this mostly because of the packaging. 5to2 for attention. Makes no sense to put dark shampoo in light bottle and light conditioner in dark green bottle.When you’re grabbing it always grab wrong one and don’t like bottle shape because in hands wet, soapy, slippery it always slips out of grasp and falls away into water or floor doesn’t stand up good. I use on my hair and all my dogs and when trying a fast grab it always falls over and needs two hands to pour.I don’t like addition of Teatree because all other tea tree shampoos I have to switch because Teatree makes my head itch. I don’t see why everybody wants to do the same. It’s frustrating trying to find something different to found what’s good and they change it like other shampoos.Why does everyone do the same thing when you’re trying to find something different? Everybody following fads is VERY annoying.

I am so happy that I found this product. May sound odd, but I actually enjoy the scent. I am thoroughly satisfied with the soap, shampoo and conditioner. I can honestly say that I feel so much more clean from using this.

So freaking good! Love the cleaning power and scent of pine tar! Be careful now to use too much of the hair care, as it will completely destroy your hair. Less is definitely more with pine tar... but at least it proves that real powerful ingredients are used in this item!The biggest sell was the bar of soap all the way. Massive bar and one pass on the skin makes you feel clean without the constant lathering with other soap brands.
