iPhone: The Missing Manual: The book that should have been in the box

If you have an iPhone you need to have this book by David Pogue. Of course get one for your particular model/version of iPhone, His books are very helpful and through. You can look for answers to questions in several places as things are cross referenced. Well written, understandable, and well presented. I got my first book of his with the purchase of my first iPhone (actually the iPhone was a gift from my kids). Without his books i’ld be lost & fighting my phone. I ask Mr. Pogue to please write a book for those of us that unfortunately DO NOT HAVE WiFi!!! So no Air Print!! And DO NOT USE CLOUD.Apple has forgotten us.I have to go someplace safe with WiFi to get version updates. Have to transfer photos from my iPhone to my old laptop. Then connect the laptop to my old printer to print out stuff. Or use my old digital camera to take picture of iPhone photo. Then connect camera to small portable printer for prints. Or go to big box store to print.? Lots of extra work for somethings that should be so simple.Please please Mr Pogue help us. Or help APPLE to see the error of their ways.

This book covers SO many great things about the iPhone8. This is my very 1st iPhone and the information provided is invaluable, especially if it’s your 1st smartphone! I would tell everyone to purchase this book to get to know how to get everything you can out of your iPhone. I have purchased these books, The Missing Manuals, for years The 1st time for my iPod Nano Gen2 and every iPod sense! But now of course the Nano’s are obsolete! But it didn’t sway me to seek out this guide that has always been so helpful to me for knowledge of an Apple product I purchased. I find it amazing that you spend SO MUCH money on Apple products (Nanos, Touch & iPhones) and basically you don’t get ANY information about it! Sure the little ebooklet guide provides some information to get you started but NOTHING like you would expect for the cost. These Manuals are a comprehensive guide to your iPhone. This was the 1st book I looked for when I purchased my iPhone. Not one regret on any purchase of these guides. Thank You again for a GREAT guide for my iPhone!

New to Iphone and was just what I needed. Addresses everything in clear manner. Many thanks to the author.

I'm not the most skillful with the modern electronic devices. I require step-by-step instructions with helpful illustrations. The downloaded user's manual from Apple didn't begin to meet my needs, and probably wasn't intended to do so. The manufacturers assume a proficiency level for all their customers that simply is not there for me. This book helps me in a way that only a patient personal instructor could do better.

I just purchased my first iPhone. This book provides a lot of information, which in my case is overwhelming. In nonCovid times, I would have hired a teenager (I don't have any available grandchildren, nephews or nieces) to get me started. I purchased another book, designed for seniors, and that looks more promising. I admit, however, that my basic problem is that I don't have a motivation to learn how to use it, since 90% of the calls received on our house line are from robot-dialer/scammers.

I'm only on page 41 (out of 680!) but I've easily more than doubled my knowledge of my iPhone (XS). It may take me a long while to finish but it's the most useful tech reference I've ever used and I'm trying to absorb the information a little slowly to avoid overload. At each step so far I have iPhone in hand and try things out. Of course I'm amazed at the complexity of the iPhone and iOS 12 and now I have Pogue's book to see me through. Highly recommended.

This book is amazing! I'm much more confident trying to LEARN HOW TO USE my iPhone Xs with this manual...rather than you tubing or googling each and every question. Purchased phone from AT&T store and it came with a trifold sheet on volume buttons and little else. Tech said to you tube on how to use it...

We have an 8+ ...there's a whole bunch of stuff on the new phones (make sense - it is the latest editions) that we have to wade thru to find the meaty bits that apply to our phone.I should have looked for the latest edition - produced when our phone was new.Jim

In this day of on line references sometimes you want a reference that isn't and provides guidance with print and visual graphics to help you understand and use your I phone. I found this book to be a great reference. I read through and find other uses for my I Phone I was unaware of and would never have thought of.

This is a good detailed guide for the iPhone 7. Another high quality O'Reilly documentation product.

Very in depth book. Love to know all the tips and tricks....especially with my memory ...need this book! Great!
