Institutions and Organizations: Ideas, Interests, and Identities Fourth Edition

Good overview of institutionalism and organizational analysis. Missing is critical realism and its impact on institution theory. Lancaster style discourse theory has a lot to offer this field, and it wish it were engaged in this book. But I'll use this book for my institution theory graduate class.

Scott gives an excellent overview with the right balance of breadth to depth. I am new to this area of research, but was able to follow along.

Another superb contribution from Dick Scott. It does a masterful job of reviewing the literature and taking it further with lots of interesting ideas and direction for future research. A must read for all organization scholars in management and sociology as well as a standard for institutional theorists.
