Review: Great product for raising KH and gentle PH. - To adjust the PH in my 700 gallon aquaponics system, I have purchase and used: Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Bicarbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Calcium Carbonate, and Hydrated Lime. While most of those adjust PH, the calcium carbonate and hydrated lime both messed up the total hardness (GH) and had no affect on the Carbonate hardness (KH). KH is the buffer for acids and decreases over time as it is used by the nitrifying bacteria. Yes, when my plants were looking very bad, and I did not know why, I bought and used a hardness test kit. After finding out how badly I had messed up GH, I did a 50% water change to reduce the GH. This product successfully raises KH while gently raising PH, and does not hurt either the fish or the plants. I am so satisfied that I have ordered, and received a 10 pound bucket. The Calcium carbonate and Hydrated Lime will go onto the lawn or outdoor garden.

A: It is VERY soluble in water

**Q: can I use it for ramen noodle**
A: Potassium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) are the 2 main ingredients in Kansui used to modify the texture of ramen noodles.

**Q: Is it pure, with no preservatives and/or additives to prevent clumping and such?**
A: It is USDA B grade so it is as close to pure as I have used.

**Q: is this my best choice to raise kh in my aquarium**
A: This chemical is used in planted aquariums to increase the stability of the water pH by increasing the KH of the water and adding potassium to the water which plants use as a major nutrient.It is often preferred over bicarbonate of soda, as it contains no hydrogen ions. However if there is any acids present in the water, then the K2CO3 will react to form Potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) which produces extra H+ ions and so the pH will rise.
