Excellent seller! Love love Eloise! See my story!
Great book! Perfect condition! Thank you! On my trip to New York City with the kids I wanted to see the Plaza Hotel. I was not sure of exactly “how much of it” I could see however we walked into the lobby because I knew that the “story Eloise” was based on the plaza hotel and that she had “supposedly” lived there but I did not know if it was a real story or not, I supposed “not”. At that time, before they were turned into kind opinions you walked into the lobby and there was a beautiful beautiful restaurant right in front of me as well as a gorgeous lobby with people standing at the registration desk registering for rooms. And I saw a sign that said “gift shop“ oh my gosh I had to go look! As I walked towards the gift shop at the end of the hallway was the gorgeous huge and I am talking 4‘ x 3‘ gorgeous oil painting of Eloise with the most ornate 8 inch gold handcarved frame around it! She was beautiful every little detail was perfect! Remind you I had just read one of her books at that point just a little paperback book, had no grandchildren at that point, I just thought it was the cutest book ever she was such a precaution little girl. I turned to the right and the gift shop was right there. However before I went in there was a set of elevators with an actual, elevator operator standing there, not that he had to operate the elevator, they were Automatic, but it was just such a elegant hotel, he would “escort you into the elevator and ask you which floor you would like and push the buttons for you! Just like the old days when the elevator had to be “operated by hand” it was cool! So I asked him, and I felt a little silly. “Can you tell me sir, is Eloise a true story? Did a little girl ever live here?“ And he replied “oh absolutely! She lived in a suite at the top floor and everything you read in her books is absolutely true. She was a very precocious the young little girl, but as they tell me very sweet.“ I was delighted! I asked if her room was still there and they said yes it was just us it was at the time but they do not allow tours. I would’ve loved to of seen the suite where she lived. But anyway we went to the gift shop, I bought a sweatshirt that said “ The plaza“ and of course a couple of more Eloise paperback books. After that trip I collected in Eloise story on a cassette tape! LOL I had it converted into a CD. Years past, And I then had four grandchildren, a girl, a boy, and then a set of twins a girl and a boy. I read those books to those girls I can’t tell you how many times! I also had movies on , DVD, Just one I think Eloise at Christmas. So bottom line when I saw this book that has I think all her stories and one beautiful hard cover book I jumped on it because it’s very expensive and I can’t even tell you the reasonable price I paid and again to the seller thank you thank you thank you thank you. You have no idea how much this book means to me my grandchildren are now grown, the twins have been excepted at the University at Buffalo, Pre-Med. their mom my daughter is a nurse practitioner. My other two grandchildren are in college, my granddaughter just about finished with her nurse practitioner degree and my grandson an automotive engineer. So from way back before they were born I was enthralled with Eloise! I have heard nowThat Eloise’s suite has become open to the public to view! I have not New York recently, but I can tell you when I get there again, I live in Buffalo it’s about an 8 Hour DriveA one hour flight, I definitely will be visiting Eloise‘s former home. I believe she lives there in the 1920s. For any of you that read this just google her, she’s such an interesting little girl.I’m so excited that I had such an interest in a “real little girl” and not just a fairytale!

Just as good as I remembered from childhood
Loved this as a little girl, now reading it to our little girl and she is obsessed. Love the page that opens up to show the elevator and stairs - such visceral memories and delight.

A wonderful book with a strange mistake!
This is my favorite book. This copy is a little different from my original. Strangely, on the page where we meet Eloise's mother's lawyer, THERE'S A DIFFERENT WORD!! On the bottom right of MY FIRST EDITION copy of that page, it saysHere's what he likesMartinisHere's what I likeGrassIn this copy it says "Dandelions" instead of Grass. Very strange! So I always just change the word when I read it to my nephew and I'll have to tell him when he's old enough to read it to himself. I think it's a funny quirk and almost makes the book more interesting. Good think I know it almost by heart!
