Think of It as a Volume Knob for LED Lights
I ordered this for a friend who uses it with the low-voltage LED lighting on her outdoor patio, and it works perfectly. I will admit that when I first looked at the description, all the talk about PWM frequencies, amperage and voltage made this little device sound considerably more complicated than it really is. The easiest way to understand it is this: itโs basically a volume knob for compatible LED lights. Instead of turning the sound up and down, you turn the knob to make the lights brighter or dimmer. It goes on the low-voltage side of the lighting system. In a typical setup, your regular wall outlet powers an adapter that converts household electricity to low-voltage DC. This dimmer then goes between that power supply and the LED lights: Wall outlet to low-voltage DC power supply to dimmer to LED lights. Turn the knob one way and the lights become brighter; turn it the other way and they become dimmer. That makes it particularly nice for something like patio lighting, where you might want brighter light when youโre actually doing something outside and softer, warmer-feeling illumination when youโre sitting around in the evening. There is also a more sophisticated feature here that I found interesting: the adjustable PWM frequency can help eliminate the flickering or banding that sometimes appears when LED lights are photographed or recorded on video. Thatโs a nice feature for anyone using LEDs around cameras or video equipment. The metal enclosure feels substantial, the knob operates smoothly, and once you understand what the device actually does, itโs very straightforward. One important point: this is NOT a dimmer that you connect directly to 120V household electricity. Itโs designed for compatible 5โ24V DC single-color LED lighting. It can be powered from a battery system, but it certainly isnโt limited to battery useโa proper low-voltage DC power adapter plugged into the wall works as well. Once I understood that, the whole thing made sense. Itโs simply a well-built brightness control for low-voltage LED lightingโand for my friendโs patio setup, it does exactly what we wanted. Great price too.

Perfectly compatible with caravan lighting strips
Perfect dimmer for my RV COB strips! Works on 5-24v. The metal case stays cool even with all my cabinet lights on. Wiring is super simple, no tricky steps at all. Worth every penny for camper builds.

High power, metallic texture
Heavy-duty little controller! Handles up to 720W at 24V, fits all my single color COB and 5050 strips. Way sturdier plastic-only cheap dimmers. No buzzing noise either.

No flicker, fine adjustment
I often use my camera to shoot videos. I would like to say that this 12V LED Dimmer Switch is very useful. When connected to the corresponding voltage power supply for the light strips, you can rotate the button to adjust the brightness. The brightness adjustment is very smooth and delicate. The four adjustable frequencies can well meet my different brightness shooting needs, and there is no flickering at all!

Adjustable frequency is a huge feature for use in videos
Like most people, I wanted to set up some strip lighting on a dimmer, and this looked like a perfectly good option. Here's the thing, I also shoot video in the same space. I know how dimmers work with pulse width modulation (PWM), so I just assumed I would have to turn off the strip lighting whenever I shot videos. I didn't even realize it at first, but this unit has a switch to set the frequency at 8KHz, which essentially eliminates any flicker and vertical lines. As for build quality, it's pretty good. The metal housing (aluminum alloy, I think?) isn't super thick, but it feels very sturdy and doesn't flex at all. The PWM frequency switch is tightly stopped, so it's definitely not going to get knocked between positions easily. And the stepless knob travels very smoothly and silently โ there's no scratching or grinding. There's not much to be said about performance, it works exactly as advertised. The key thing that makes me happy is being able to run it at a very high frequency to eliminate flicker for the camera. These units usually aren't super expensive anyway, but $15 and some change is a perfectly good price for this dimmer, and well worth it for actually supporting a useful feature that's not always present.
