Roku Premiere | HD/4K/HDR Streaming Media Player, Simple Remote and Premium HDMI Cable, Black

Still going strong. I’ve had this for years. It still works and we still love it. I think this model is discontinued.

I bought this for my tv in the next room. I was using my Xbox One to strream my PLEX app, which is a free program that allows you to stream media from your home pc/server. The problem I kept having was I had to turn the stream quality down to use less Mbps or The movies would keep buffering every so often. It was so annoying. And the router is only 1-2 rooms away. No problem playing xbox online. Just streaming PLEX or sometimes Netflix. Enter the Roku. I was able to watch 2 movies so far that have lagged on the xbox. I didn't have to adjust quality so I was able to see them in 1080p. This can do 4K but my tv in that room is older and not 4K. But I don't care. So far, Roku has made my life better. Hope I don't have issues later on. Oh, and the remote is the kind you have to point at the Roku or in the general direction. No volume rocker or power button. But, on the home screen, there is an option to turn tv off which it does. Or puts it in a sleep mode. As soon as a button is pressed, the tv comes back on. Setup was super easy. And lastly, the Roku box is small. About the width of a credit card and the height of a tv controller. UPDATE: Still going strong. No problems. I won one from my work so now I have 2. I used this to swap out the Roku Streaming Stick that was in my bedroom. Not the Streaming Stick+. Just the regular one. That stick has crap for range pickup. I was only getting about 8-10 Mbps for download speed. I would run into buffer issues all tje time and had to turn quality down in my PLEX. This Roku however has EXCELENT range and got me 20 Mbps. now. No more issues. I recommend this one over the regular Streaming Stick. Not sure how the Strramung Stick+ works.

Revived my old 15 years old tv. Live contet might stutter due to ram limitations if you watching im hd. But works well for the price. I bought it 5 years ago and no issues

Had I known just how great Roku devices are, I probably would have saved a few hundred dollars and bought another "dumb" tv. I recently moved into a new apartment and though I already had a large flat screened tv, granted it's like 6 years old and is only 1080P capable, I decided that now that I have wifi and high speed internet, I would buy myself one of the fancy 4k tvs with bluetooth and netflix and internet browsing and all that other fancy stuff. Well I did just that, and don't get me wrong, I LOVE it!! The picture is so clear and crisp and beautiful and I can access Netflix and HBO Go on the tv instead of on my phone or tablet. Well I was going to gift my old big screened tv to my mom who claimed it was way to big for her, so it came along with me to my new aparment and I put it in my bedroom. Well I don't have cable or satellite tv and my bluray player is connected to my tv in the living room so I decided to try a roku device and it is AWESOME!!! It takes my 6 year old big screen tv and makes it feel completely new again! The pictures are crisp and clear for 1080P and the best part is I can access Netflix, and Hulu and HBO Go, all the stuff I could only access on my phone and tablet over wifi, and allows me to view it on the big screen! It was so very easy to set up and get going, so now everything I can enjoy on my Samsung smart tv that I shelled out all that money for, I can enjoy on my 6 year old tv in my bedroom minus the 4k clear picture. Honesty, had I known just how good the Roku device is, I would have saved a few hundred bucks and bought a 4k regular tv without the smart features because this does pretty much all of that, for a mere 35.00.

So I've had this device less than 24 hours, but thought I'd give a current review based on last night: 1) Why did I buy this? I have a 55", 4K UHD Android smart TV. I got it on the cheap from a liquidation store, and didn't realize it was Android TV...I didn't know that was a thing. I have always had Android phones, so I"m not opposed to Android. But...they did an Android update the other day. I don't know if that's the culprit...but all during Sunday football on youtube TV it kept freezing up. I tried watching Amazon prime TV...serious lags which had already been an issue, now it's worse. Tried rebooting, and changing some developer settings as per stuff I found on the web...no luck. So I tried my roku from my bedroom set...and wow....it all worked smoothly. So I figured $40 to make my problems go away was a good bet. 2) The problems DID go away....Youtube TV is smooth. Amazon prime works great...for the most part...(I'll come back to this). No more lagging or freezing at all. 3) As most of you know...very easy to set up. 4) My only concern thus far...sometimes part of the picture looks fuzzy. I haven't had time to play around with any settings. And usually, it catches up and is fine. It's like the main focal point is clear, but the background is fuzzy....until it catches up. That started on the first thing I turned on, Monday Night Football on Youtube TV. It also happened a bit watching Grand Tour on Prime, a relatively new show, so it's not old tech recording the show. 5) I'm not a huge fan of the remote limitations....but it's not that big a deal to me. Overall...I'm happy with my choice. I may decide to upgrade to a different version....we shall see.

I was running a "Media Server" PC with Windows 10 for all my TV viewing...pretty much streamed everything from web sites to include my cable company's web interface, Amazon Prime, and Netflix. I was in the market for a remote control that could interface with Windows so that I didn't have to use a mouse...just lazy and didn't want to have to get up off the couch to change channels or streaming APP. My brother mentioned Roku and that his daughter and S-I-L had one and they liked it. So onward to Amazon to search for Roku or something similar like Firestick, etc. I chose this Roku and I honestly couldn't be more satisfied!! It is PERFECT for what I wanted and allowed me to dump cable COMPLETELY, which is what I've wanted to do for some time; just have hi-speed internet. Now I watch Youtube TV, NHL, Amazon Prime, and Netflix without the slightest trouble at all. I rated the Remote Control feature with 5 stars because it's what I was looking for when I started on this quest to find something with a remote. The only thing I wish it had was an interface for volume control. But I'm sure Roku will come out with that eventually. If not, it's not a deal breaker and I would buy this Roku box anyway. ***** UPDATE ***** Just wanted to post an update since I've been using the Roku Premiere for a little while now. Still gets 5 stars, but fairly soon after setting up the box, I started having an issue with my sound system producing a chirping noise when certain Db levels were spoken...but it wasn't anything consistent. My sound "system" is a Bose Cinemate GS Series II...a 2.1 system with two Gemstone speakers on towers and an Acoustimass Sub-Woofer. I changed all the default audio settings from "AUTO" to PCM Stereo...that didn't help. So the next troubleshooting step was to replace the HDMI cable that was included with the Roku. That seems to have been the issue, because I haven't heard any of the chirping since I replaced the "stock" HDMI cable...and I'm sure it's the cheapest cable Roku could buy to include with the box. The replacement cable is not anything special...just one you'd get at Walmart or Amazon; a Belkin brand or something similar.

This is one of my favorite “gadgets” in my house. I have an older non-smart TV and while it has great picture and sound quality it was not getting used much because I’d want to stream a show and couldn’t. It also doesn’t have a powered HDMI port meaning the stick type devices wouldn’t work with it. This device is powered by a USB and can use a standard HDMI without a problem since the power comes from another tiny cable.

I recently purchased a new 4K smart TV. The funny part happened when I had my first potential purchaser for my old smart TV came to look. The old TV needed a software update. "I have never used the smart features, preferring ROKU" was my answer to be unprepared for the demo. It is true. With a surround system, allowing HDMI passthrough/routing I prefer to have my smart features outside of the TV. As I read through reviews of new 4K TV's before purchasing, I realized that many operational issues that I observed on my sibling's TV (Sony with an android based OS) requiring periodic reboots are related to the OS and apps. Additionally, others were concerned about viewer monitoring via the google based OS. Personally I care less about voice and motion controls, and more about the only three smart apps I really use... Netflix, Amazon, and Plex.... (I also have DirectTV).... so another ROKU was part of the plan. When I set up the new TV, I ignored messages to initialize via a google account, and went manual. I purchased a new 4K Roku the next day. It works as well as the prior ROKU. Set-up was a breeze with a wireless network. Most surprising was the upgraded app friendliness. As an example, Netflix detected a new 4K set-up and asked me if I wanted to upgrade my plan to 4K for a couple more dollars a month. Some people might find that unwanted, but for me, I had already planned on it anyway... so it was super convenient to hit "yes". In any case, navigation is the simple and the same for all ROKU's. And for me, I kept the old remote (which works just fine) because it has the Netflix and Amazon hot buttons (unlike the remote that came with the new unit). ROKU provides an alternative op system for smart features that I appreciate and find simpler than navigating my TV's own smart features. ROKU can be pared down to the essentials, and for me reduces the number of remotes I need, along with making things less complex. For those reasons, ROKU can be great for current owners of smart TV's.

The best! Literally does everything it says in the ad. Super easy to use! The only things on there that cost money are certain streaming subscriptions. There are also free streaming apps and games available too! Essentially it makes a normal tv smart. Highly recommend.

Exelente producto de calidad vale la pena invertit en un Articulo asi es muy facil de instalar y manejar en la tv creo que lo único que siento que se atorarian es en darlo de alta en la página web ya que necesitas abrir una cuenta y ya pero es lo unico extra solo se actualiza a el nuevo software para que funcione bien y puedas Accesar a Netflix o cual quier otro aparte vienen canales gratuitos y de paga pero esta muy equilibrado ya que vi que no todos son de paga pueses Accesar a Netflix Disney Chanel YouTube hasta vincular tu telefono con Spotify un buen de cosas que me agradaron muy completo y sobre todo hacer un Smart Tv a tu Televisión yo me siento contento por la compra Si Buscas Un Buen Equipo y no sabes cual elegir este es muy recomendado calidad y Precio por lo que pagas no lo vas a hechar el dinero a la basura Trae todo lo que indica que hace mi consejo es apegarse a el libro de instruciones es sencillo practico nada grande ni enredoso trae imagenes mas paractico como armarlo con los cables correctos y paso apaso y ya en tu Tv te vas a HDMI y ahi empiezas a configurar primero en el idioma que te guste en mi caso español y conectarse a tu WiFi de tu internet y se actualiza y de ahi lo das de alta ya sea por computadora o Celular en la página de la marca de tu Aparato nuevo y viene una clave en la tv para darlo de alta en internet en la pagina web donde te indica y abres una cuenta con tu correo y listo tu Accesorio se activa y sigues ya en la tv configurando muy Acesible al usurio espero sirva mi recomendacion y satisfacion de lo que Adquirí.
