works great! easy install with Pex and Sharkbites
I installed this myself with Pex tubing and shark-bite connectors. The most difficult part was getting it downstairs. Instructions were simple to follow, they send everything in two boxes, the media already loaded. There weren’t installation instructions included, but when I called their customer service, they promptly sent me the youtube video and I followed along easily. I had previously purchased the AFW Filters Iron Pro 3 48k softener, Black prior and installed the drain line and air-gap. I purchased this model specifically since I have a H2S smell as well, with minimal iron issues. I was initially hopeful that the Iron Pro 3, combined with the Morton's rust and smell reducing salt bags would be able to eliminate both the hard water and smell with this one unit. The softener did reduce the smell and eliminated the hard water. I installed this air injector a week later since there was still an H2S smell. With both working for about 3 weeks, I’m very happy with the result: no hard water, no smell, easily programmable fleck control heads and outstanding customer service. In the pictures you will see both products and my drain line that I ran to the washer drain. I added the three-way PVC and then the tubing and moved the Iron Pro brine container over; this is just what I felt was the easiest for my specific installation. I've never done this type of plumbing and with a little google and youtube research, along with the right tools, this install took about an hour, including the call the customer support. I took my time and the most time was measuring and installing the Pex tubing.I'm very happy with the result and don't know how the previous homeowners went without this for their entire time here. The red stains have all disappeared from the toilet and sinks, the water tastes and smells better. I'm thinking the main sediment filter will now be replaced every three to four months with a regular micro filter instead of every ten days with a carbon filter. Removing the Sulfur smell like this is a great improvement to the house. Everything is downstairs. I did change the programmed backwash time so that it doesn’t go off at the same time as the water softener. I also increased the back-wash time from 3 days to 6 days, since my Sulfur PPM is lower and there is only minimal iron in the water. No more morning Sulfur smell shock with cold water.

So far so good.
I came here to read the actual reviews and they were very helpful so I thought I would write a review. Product was shipped fast in two boxes, the tank and the control head. There are not much instructions in the box so watch the you tube install videos while your waiting for your shipment. If you have some plumbing experience it’s very straight forward. Comes standard with a 1” threaded yolk for water lines. Wish I would have paid attention because most have 3/4 inch pex lines in their home. The manufacture will send you the right size if you notify them before shipment. They did offer to send me the right size but I was already in the middle of the install so I couldn’t wait. To the hardware store I went for reducers from 1 inch to 3/4inch. Only had this unit for a day so only time will tell how well it’s solves my iron issue. So far though the water looks clear. I do have a water softener in-line afterwards that I have had for years so I will know by how quickly the iron stains reappear. Water Is cloudy at first which I’m hoping goes away in time. Will try to update at a later time.

No More Iron Problems
The Iron Eater filter installation and set up is straight forward. After the first day of use, the total iron concentration was reduced to 0.15 mg/L as measured through a tap located furthest from the outlet feed of the iron filter. I suspected that because of years of iron build-up in the piping, there may have been a leeching effect going on. I retested the treated water at the same tapa day later, this time letting the water running for about 7 minutes before drawing a sample. The total iron concentration this time was non detectable, so the filter is working great! The reason for four stars instead of five deals with the bypass valve or more specifically the threads on the out-board side. These threads seem to be cut very deep and when threaded into a stainless nipple using Teflon tape, it could not be stopped from leaking even tightening it to the point to where there was a fear of cracking the valve. The nipples were then removed and the Teflon tape was removed and pipe thread sealer applied. Although better, one nipple is still leaking about a drop every third hour. I plan to obtain brass nipples instead of the stainless ones installed to see if that solves the issue.

Air Injection Iron Filter
It was easy to install (for my husband) and seems to work great so far. We are about two weeks into the use and have no iron smell or traces of iron.

Not working for heardness
Although no sign of sulfur odor after a year, it certainly fails to reduce the hardness. I still can see the residue in every where, even in a small drop of water after being dried. I would appreciate if one of your techs let me know a way to reduce the hardness currently at 13-12 ppm.

Water filter
Just had a plumber hook it up. Would have done it myself except that the instructions that came with it were very vague. So far it has been working very well
