Playable out of the box. Round tone
These are playable put of the box and the reed surfaces are sealed already. I get a round tone even with a 5 - 6 opening. I was hesitant to get 2.5 strength but I am glad I did. I also have wide open pieces and it played on those as well. I play tested 3 out of 5 and all of them were consistent. Even if the other 2 are duds that is a good ratio. Of course the Reed Geek will address many problematic reeds. But for the saxophone player who doesn't have skills to adjust the reeds, this brand is the one to get. I think they follow the Vandoren traditional hardness rating maybe just a hair softer. So if you are suing Java or La Voz 3s these 2.5 will be as hard if not harder. But the profile makes it easy to play but you get a warmer tone all factors being the same.

I really enjoy these reeds!
I've been playing them on my ref 54 tenor with a 5 metal yanigasawa mouthpiece. I find them to be very consistent in quality and durable too. I play the 2 strength with my V16 T7 mouthpiece. They have a smooth deep round sound with a lot of flexibility. They come in an old fashion cardboard sleeve, which is very eco friendly.I also like their clarinet reeds, which come in 1/4 strengths.
