Who "wood" not want one! Brilliant Whistle
The media could not be loaded. What an amazing whistle (and note. this is a whistle and not a recorder though it does near to a recorders tone). And what I do like, is these whistles are made in Europe and not in the sweatshops of the far east. So kudos to them for this! I might try the one in C if the price falls a little bit, I think they're around £50.00.It's a lively whistle so you do need good control. I've only been playing this whistle for an hour or so but I'm very pleased with both the volume and the movement through the notes and it easily runs through two octaves + upper F. I've attached a video of my "out of the box playing" so no edits or reverb! If I get a chance I will upload something better as the volume was a bit low on the recording. It will not replace my busking whistle which is a shearwater widebore and made of metal so easier to maintain after playing outside, but for ballads and classical pieces indoors then this will be my first choice as it's a nice clear tone. With this said. If you're just starting out, then a clarke sweettone might be more "forgiving" and certainly not as loud!!! But if you've been playing a few months and stepping up a notch, and you're after a wooden whistle, then this is great for the price. As an edited note, I bought this whistle while it was listed at £26.00 through Prime. The price may change from the time of this review. Please note that it is wood! You have to play it for 5-10 minutes before you "play it" for real (warm up) and you also have to care for it as you would a wooden recorder which some might not like.

A very feeble high D whistle
This wooden whistle is very disappointing. It lacks the rich tone that a wooden descant recorder provides. The sound from this wooden whistle is thin and dull with a tendency to squeal like a slippery E string on a fiddle. It is a very inferior whistle. The sound is not as good as a £6 Clarke Sweetone tin whistle, or the Ferris plastic whistle. The price is very high. For that price a very good Tony Dixon whistle could be bought, providing much better sound and much more reliable notes in both octaves.I have tried most of the currently available high D whistles. The Glenluce whistle is just a waste of money.
