1 Star. Really stinks. You guys cant sell this to people. I did laundry 3 times and it still sticks with some heavy chemicals. This is how it looks like after I did laundry - see image attached.

No. Sadly, just no.
No. Sadly, just no.I really, really wanted to love this blanket. I read the reviews, deciding to buy based on the positive number (and choosing to ignore the fair number of negative ones).Straight out of the box - none of the bad smells that other reviewers listed. A chemical smell to be sure, but not bad. Good sign. The blanket looked beautiful. Good sign number two. At that point, my cat jumped up to check it out with me. She rubbed and kneaded one time and immediately pulled a big clump of fluff out. Uh oh. Not a good sign. It was not an aggressive knead.I was hesitant to give it a wash, worried that it would ruin it, but per manufacturers suggestion, I went ahead ... and that was the end of the nice looking blanket. For information, I did use a front loading gentle cycle washer (wouldn’t ever suggest putting this in a top load agitator), but it just didn’t stand up to it. So much fluff came out that you can now see the weave lines. I’m so sad. Because I read in other reviews that the fluff goes away after a few washes, I tried another two more very gentle washes. Nope, nope, nope. This sad blanket just sheds and sheds. I really can’t use it at all because of the shedding. I now have tons of fibers and fluff clumps migrating all over the house. On the positive side, that just gives Kitty something to play with. Sigh.Nobody wanted to love this more ... but no, I just can’t.

Great blanket!
I hear all these comments about how badly these blankets smell because they’ve been in storage. As a former Marine I have smelled blankets that were in storage that were hideous. I left the blanket outside for one day and it smells fantastic like it just came off the clothesline. It’s also warm and durable and I will be buying additional blankets.

WANTED TO LOVE THIS, but shedding, outgassing, and clogging our laundry machines were dealbreakers
We wanted a heavy wool blanket to store in the trunk for emergencies, but this turned out not to be the one for us. There were two issues for us that were dealbreakers:1)chemical smell. We followed the recommendations of others and immediately began washing the blanket in cold water and tumble drying on low/air. The chemical smell did not change much after two washes, and it was disturbing enough that we did not feel safe keeping it.2)shedding.The blanket shed enough lint during two runs through the dryer to nearly fill a 3 gallon bucket. On the second run through our high-efficiency front loader washer, the blanket actually shed enough to clog the washing machine's front filter and cause a small amount of water leakage. We've had our washing machine for over a year and have washed all kinds of things in it, but this is the first thing that has shed enough to clog the filter. After we cleaned out the washing machine, we thought about taking the blanket to a laundromat to do another couple rounds of washing to see if the chemical smell would go away, but ultimately concluded that this is not how any blanket should behave. Some other details for people who are considering buying this blanket:1) I don't think the kinds of problems we had are necessarily specific to this brand. These kinds of issues seem common in reviews for pretty much any low-ish cost 80% wool blend military style blanket. Some people seem not to mind or notice the smell, but if you are at all sensitive to chemicals, you might not like it.2)The heavy weight listed in the product description is accurate. I weighed it before washing and it came in at 4.2 pounds on our scale.

Smells like petrol
This blanket arrived and looked gorgeous. It smelled very strongly of petrol. I called amazon and they told me to wash it. Washing it in cold and air drying in my dryer ruined my washer and dryer leaving very small hairs all over it that I cannot get out and that is on all my clothes and bedding now giving me severe allergic reaction and headaches.I would give this a -5 stars if I could. This is the worst product ever.Amazon was kind enough to allow me to return it so I’m going to return. I’m very sad because I wanted this to work out as I am cold at nights but this only left me with severe allergies and excruciating headaches.

Beyond the odor great warmth and complete satisfaction
Absolute wonderful and just as stated. It smells and my dog took a whiff and ran outside and hid behind the garage. I Took the blanket to a laundromat in a near by strip mall and the ladies there wanted my blanket. A homeless man said it reminded him of his army days. This blanket is well made and cut just right. Better to put a sheet or something smooth under it for a while, you will itch. Wash thoroughly in mild water and gently dry in front load machine. Do not use machine with agitator it will stretch the wool and destroy its warming effect. All that's left is for me to go and find my dog. Good luck to all of you.

Decent value for the money
The blanket appears to be well made and has minimal odor. After airing in the garage for three days I put it inside my car to serve as an emergency blanket for winter and I do not notice a smell from it in the car. While the blanket is "good and heavy", meaning that it will not slide off of a sheet or sleeping bag the way synthetic fleece blankets do, it has a lot less "loft" than I expect from a top quality wool blanket. Loft = trapped air = warmth trapping ability. I own other military and blankets that have more loft for the weight, and Pendleton "camp" blankets that are way better, but cost 3-4 times as much. For the price, however, I can look past the low loft issue, that's why it gets four stars. If I had paid $100 for it I would give it fewer stars, but for under $40 it's a good blanket for the price. It's also big enough to cover two people in sleeping bags in a tent, meaning that it can both serve for two and allow both people to share each other's warmth.Recommended for:- Emergency use in winter- Camping in spring or fall as an extra layer over or under sleeping bags- An extra layer on a bunk in a cabin where night-time temps drop when the wood-stove burns low.

Not worth the money.
It has holes in it. Like stitched holes. I don't know what made them. For the money? No way. And then I'd have to pick up the £15 return. Nope. Kept it. Sheds like mad. Little furry black balls. Balls. Other than that it's great, really. Big and really nice feel but...

Nice wool blanket
Based on other reviews I was expecting some industrial type odour initially from the blanket but, opened the package and there was no smell. It’s Large, comfy, and soft!
