It's about time.
Some things require a certain amount of time, like 20 minutes to cook a sandwich in an electric sandwich maker. And 20 minutes is long enough for me to forget something is cooking. So I made a 120V plug-in timer out of this 60 minute switch. Now I can plug virtually any appliance into the timer and not worry about it. This timer is solid... I couldn't hope my enclosure would match it in quality, but the 3D printed box does the job. My hearing is poor so the bell part was removed. However I preserved the spring mechanism under it. The "clapper" unlocks at zero-time, swings out, and that might come in handy some day... This short extension cord sat in a tool box, unused for decades. I still hated to mess with it. But I do like the result. Asking price for the timer was $8.99.

Well made mechanical timer with a satisfying ding
I am not using this as an oven timer, but instead as a timed disconnect for a small DIY 12v LED light set up, and it has been working perfectly for that purpose. The switch feels very well made and more durable than I expected for the price. The mechanism has a solid, mechanical feel when turning the knob, and it clicks smoothly through the timing range. When the timer expires, it shuts off reliably and finishes with a very satisfying ding that gives clear feedback without being obnoxious. Installation was straightforward, the terminals are sturdy, and it feels like a component designed to last. If you need a simple mechanical timer for lighting, appliances, or other basic control tasks, this is a reliable and versatile option even outside of oven use.
