The thing I liked was no soldering required to make a circuit and plenty variety of hardware provided to make many different circuits possible and interesting to his age. The set of tutorials was well written and each had a downloadable program that was easy to download to the Arduino processor provided. So it was follow the text and pictures by plugging in the correct components and jumper wires, down load the program and sit back and be inspired by your efforts. That worked great for the first tutorial and his face lit up with pride. He said he would like to do the next tutorial without help and so I sat back and watched and spotted an error in the diagram of the circuit which when he completed building it nothing happened which we both expected. I showed him where the error on the diagram was and he corrected it and it worked. The next tutorial the program would not download and gave an error message. I looked at the code and spotted another error which on correction it all worked fine. So a great concept as a learning tool but very poor quality control spoils it totally as without me correcting these basic faults which required my basic expertise he would have been disappointed and have gained only a bad experience. I would thus not recommend purchase of this kit unless you are familiar with circuit design and programming and fault finding. It is obvious to me that there was no quality control in the manufacturing of this kit as it would only have taken a few hours for the manufacturer to have had this kit independently tested and these simple errors corrected.
