Inspiring. Practical. Priceless.
POWER HEALING by John Wimber is a powerhouse book. He explores, in detail, the ministry of divine healing and tackles the tough questions; such as what happens when a person is not instantly healed. What are the causes, conditions and ramifications? Such was the fate of his own heart condition and an illness which took his good friend.Writing about why people don't get healed, he is honest and direct. He writes, "There is another reason - I believe the most fundamental reason - why more people are not healed when prayed for today. We do not seek God as wholeheartedly as we should."From lessons of decades of ministry around the world, Wimber blends his personal experiences with scripture and principles of healing. Understanding the basis for divine healing as well as the authority for it, impediments and prayer techniques can result in people being healed more often. His insights are extremely valuable to both the person praying and the one seeking healing. One of the most interesting aspects of the book was the procedure he recommends for praying for the sick; a five step process: The Interview Diagnostic Decision Prayer Selection Prayer Engagement Post-Prayer DirectionsWimber is not purely formulaic, however, as he writes with passion, clarity and power. But there are techniques which can help make the ministry more effective. These he shares freely. Wimber tackles difficult topics including demonic forces, spiritual warfare, speaking in tongues and spiritual gifts.Whether the reader needs healing or is working in this ministry, Power Healing is a must-read.

Practical and sublimely spiritual.
Wimber studied the Bible and tried to do what it said. An amazing person's amazing journey to understand the gift of healing from a Biblical perspective.

I love John Wimber's fresh and candid approach to the Christian ...
I love John Wimber's fresh and candid approach to the Christian walk. As one person said, "Read the red and do what He said." This describes Wimber. When reading his writings I experience him as transparent and unpretentious...human. I can relate to and learn from someone like that.I was struggling with some of the theology of healing I was being exposed to. I especially appreciated how John candidly relayed his own early struggles with divine healing. He leads the reader -- he doesn't drag the reader. I felt like he was relaying my own intellectual and spiritual struggles. I still don't have all of my questions answered, but I feel more comfortable with what I do believe after reading this book.

A comprehensive book on Divine Healing
I have read a considerable number of books on divine healing, and this is the best of the bunch . If I were to recommend just one book on healing, it is this one by John Wimber.Wimber lays out his experience with divine healing, and in the process explains the scriptural basis for healing, his personal experiences, and gives practical advice to those who wish to engage in divine healing themselves. In the introduction, Wimber describes his need for healing (heart condition) and in the conclusion, he states that his personal healing had not manifested yet. In fact, Wimber died of a heart attack several years after the book was published. While his healing did not happen , Wimber writes credibly about others who were healed. To his credit, Wimber writes candidly about why all are not healed. Rather than blame it on a person's lack of faith, Wimber devotes an entire chapter on why all are not healed. I appreciated his honesty and candidness on this central question.Ultimately, healing is the providence of God and what mortal can understand the mind of the Almighty? Job learned this lesson in the Bible. While healing is up to God, Wimber describes how to pray for healing and using the many he saw healed as examples, he shows the lessons he has learned about healing.Kone

Great book on healing from John Wimber.
Great book on healing from John Wimber. Covers many aspects of healing, including emotional and gives lots of examples of actual healings the Lord did thru John. Part I - why does Jesus heal?, Part II - what does Jesus heal?, Part III - how does Jesus heal? Appendix includes scriptures showing the healing ministry of Jesus & disciples. For a more current book, get Randy Clark's book, the essential guide to healing.

Training for reigning
Very informative on the healing ministry. Older but greatly written. I was young when John Wimber came on the scene in churches. I Would have loved to have been trained under his ministry.

Powerful Book on Healing!
This work is way more than fair Biblical teaching on healing. The book by John Wimber is a powerful theological reflection on his journey and the Biblical subject of healing. In discussing his journey from one who preached and stood directly against Devine healing (due to the excess at times seen)to a life that was used by God to heal through training others to be used by God in the same way. He is a credible thinker and solid in his approach on the subject. He even brings up the vantage points that would normally be dismissive to this component to the gospel. Two thumbs way up. For further reading on different subjects consider some deeper theological works like Roger Stronstad and of course Ray Anderson.

Encouraging and practical
Came across the name of John Wimber through a book on healing by Francis McNutt (whose book I enjoyed). I really like the way John Wimber writes, very down to earth. I especially appreciated how he explains the importance of a prayer model - someone with a successful prayer ministry that a person can watch. Towards the latter part of the book, he methodically goes through the steps of praying for someone. This ultimately led me to purchase teaching DVD's from Vineyard Resources so that I could introduce a prayer model to our adult Sunday School class. I will be using his book as well.

John Wimber's use of signs and wonders from the Lord to heal and deliver.
Amazingly the Lord still uses this in the 21st century as he did in the time of Christ and the Apostles. We have seen people healed in the prayer ministry of our Church in Cullompton, Devon and our healing teams are mainly lay people.

A comprehensive look at healing
This is a fantastic book. Its a mixture of personal stories and explanations of bible passages to give readers a guide to introducing healing into our homegroups and churches. He has a very clear style of writing that is easy to understand whilst looking into the subject with depth and clarity.

Very good book, get it.
Intensive, well written, backed up by scripture and accompanied by testimonies. We hardly get this kind of in depth teaching from Sunday sermons so get it and you won't regret it. Thank you John Wimber, this book is a treasure.
