Oddly odor does not escape in the frig and onion stay fine many days. Drop it on the hard floor and you will be here buying a new one like I Did. A single purpose item that WORKS.

I purchased this and finally had a chance to use it. I had put a unused portion of an onion and it kept it fresh. There was no order leakage from the container, so my fridge did not smell of an onion. The price was reasonable. It was a little difficult to open back up, I did have to use a table knife to open it up. I would recommend this product.

I love this, I got other savers too ...tomato, green bell pepper, lemon, grapefruit, garlic. They are easy to use and wash up easy too. I don't have spoilage problems in my refrigerator now. At least not onions, garlic, tomato etc.I need a few of these that are shaped and look like leftovers so my leftovers don't spoil ...I wouldn't forget they are in the refrig) I don't know if these items keep things fresh longer (I'm thinking they probably do keep longer but I can't say for sure)or if its because now I know when I have a cut onion in the refrig, they make my cut onions easy to find and keep the smell out of the refrig too. Now I only have 1 cut at a time rather then several in the refrigerator at once. I open the refrig and see the onion, before I kept cut onions in baggies or foil, needless to say they spoiled before being used and I would have 2 or 3 cut onions at a time because I'd forget that I had a cut onion and would just grab another one. If I find myself using another veg or fruit often and I can buy a Hutzler Onion saver for that fruit I certainly will. I would definately recommend a friend purchasing these. They seem to take more space in the refrig but it's worth it. I got this Dec 3, 2013, I've been using it 5 months, I'll never go back to baggies, they have hit the floor and not broke or cracked, if one breaks I would definately order another one. Some of the others spend more time in the cubbards ...like the lemon one, I rarely use that one but glad I bought it because the lemon definately would have spoiled...I would have forgot it was there. Even though its rarely used I'm glad I bought it. My cubbard space is limited due to my kitchen being small but I never get upset about the lemon saver being in the way I move it aside to get a plate or bowl and set it back down. These are one of the best things in my kitchen and wouldn't want to go back to using baggies or foil. Do your self a favor and when you buy one ...get one of each type of your most used fruits and veggies. Once you get the onion saver, you'll wish you had the tomato saver too. I saw some reviews stating they are hard to open or they broke and I can't imagine how they broke or why they would be difficult to open ...just twist/turn the top and lift.

Keeps the onions fresh, keeps the onion smell out, it is however pretty large when just sitting in my fridge. But It's better then keeping it in a baggy or a storage container that I may need. My Grandma in law has this and loves them too!

Good for onions.

Bought it for the looks, but I don’t feel like it helps keep cut onions of spoiling quicker. It’s spoil about the same as wrapping it in plastic wrap. Also, does not contain the cut onion smell.

i know its just an onion container but i love the fact that i can store my leftover onion in it and it keeps the odor in side it and not in my fridge.i had been looking for one locally then i saw this one on Amazon...I do recommend it.

Apart from looking good in my fridge and counter top, this product absolutely failed at containing the onion smell - my fridge stank after just an hour! I made sure it was tightly shut but to no avail. Also VERY difficult to open and close properly as the grooves don’t align well. So I have gone back to my trusty click lock plastic storage containers, and my fridge is odour free once more.

These keepers were hard to open and just as hard to close. Split after about a month, do not buy or waste your money on this product
