A little wonder...
I’m new to the Tin Whistle, drawn to it by its ability to create hauntingly beautiful melodies as well as lively, quick and complicated ditties. All this in the simplest of little instruments, and one that I can easily carry in my backpack on journeys into the back country, which I can’t say about my guitar- another reason that I decided to take up the instrument. My Walton’s Little Black Tin Whistle arrived in great condition. It’s been a joy to keep it on my desk to pick up whenever the spirit moves me, just to fiddle around with to discover what notes come out when, how hard to blow, what grip to use. It’s been great fun, aided by the abundance of videos available online providing guidance when I feel like a bit more informative training. Bottom line, I have a high quality instrument, the same as I’ve observed many a professional play, made in Ireland, that brings me a smile every day. What more could I ask for, and all that for the price of a movie or two on Netflix?

Sweet music
This is a nice beginning level whistle. Because they are so inexpensive, I bought several different brands of tin whistles to hear and feel what the differences were between them. This one won. It has a clear, sweet sound. I can switch between upper and lower registers easily. The highest 3 notes are difficult and a little screechy and that was true of every brand I tried of these low costing whistles. I have bought three Little Blacks for my kids and all of them have been the same quality and consistency. In my opinion, It is easy to sound great playing a tin whistle and I enjoy listening to my kids practice because it sounds sweet like a flute. This Little Black Whistle is my favorite out of the low cost whistles. (If you don't mind spending more for a beginning tin whistle, I recommend Jerry Freeman's "Tweaked" whistles for Consistency of sound between registers, sweet high notes, tuned, etc... Bluebird is my favorite Tweaked whistle.)

Great cheap whistle
Since they are marketed so cheap I grabbed 2, and I'm glad I did so. One of them came in a poorer quality, having an airy sense when hitting the second octave. I'm sure I can work around this however, if not by altering my playing then by using the many tweaking guides from the internet. It's an incredibly light, but in turn delicate, whistle since it's made of aluminum. It gives a nice bright tone, but starts to quiver when playing its very highest notes. A raspy transition from 1st to 2nd octaves. A perfect beginner model, simple to learn and easy to use. It is lots of fun and definately worth the 4 or so dollars. If you are looking for something quiet though, do not take this, rather go for a Low D whistle because this can get quite loud.

Excellent penny whistle
I have had this penny whistle for years now! I still use it and it sounds great. I made a soft plushy bag to keep it safe. I play Christmas music, church music, and little diddys. They all sound good and are fun to play. It is a great, sturdy, well made penny whistle

Plays as well as it costs, fine I guess
Its a 15 dollar whistle its not great. If you want to try a flute/whistle for the first time its a good option but don't expect to perform anything good for anyone.Upper octave is airy and loses all tone.Lower octave is generally ok.

Definitely works!
If you are looking for a way to hear "Jingle Bells" every hour of every day for weeks on end- here is your opportunity.Works well for the class my child is taking. Very high pitched and fun for her to play on repeat. I suggest a good pair of ear plugs for the parents!

It's OK for a beginner
It might be my fault for choosing this one because of the color! But the sound is okay. Mouthpiece doesn't detach so I can't properly line it with the holes. Because of that I will be buying a different whistle soon so this was kind of a waste of time and money.
