Coghlan's Pocket Compass

This compass is both a bargain and a great value. I've purchased several inexpensive (under $10) compasses and this one is, by far, the best built. And, personally, I prefer the fact that it is strictly magnetic and not liquid filled.Although no longer made in Japan (now made in Taiwan), this compass is quality built. It is lightweight, but solid and durable. It has a simple, attractive, easy to read face and a luminous dial. The stop lock stays in place and actually works (compared to other brands that unseat easily). There is a convenient metal loop to enable clipping or cording it for easier carrying. Most importantly, this compass has proven accurate.Even at double the $4.29 I paid, this compass is well worth the price. I have both kept and gifted this compass several times this year and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, but accurate pocket-size compass.

I do like oil filled compasses, but in colder weather they don't respond as well as these. They work perfectly and have a lock for the needle to prevent damage while in your pocket or pack.

There's no doubt, this is a good compass. It's not for orienteering but for finding your direction. It is sturdy and easy to read. My only complaint is that the dimensions are listed as 1" x 1" x 1". Double that, and it's correct. Actually, from top to bottom is 2 and a half inches. I wanted this as an EDC item for a belt hook. It is much too big for that. I'll keep it in my grab-and-go bag with a Coleman compass I already have. You could hook it on a jacket, but again, it's a pretty big compass for that. It would be better to hook to a back pack. There's no cover, but that's no concern of mine. I wanted something smaller, but it's still a good compass.

Bought this for my grandson for a gift. It is very cheaply made. Looks like something that you would win from one of those quarter grab machines. Packaged cheaply as well. I took it out of the plastic wrapping & placed it in a jewelry gift box to help dress it up. I was a little embarrassed to give it so I added another gift with it to help his gift match the other grandchildren.

This is not an orienteering, map reading, explorer's compass. It IS a great little, durable, and accurate compass for hiking and general use. We live in the mountains of SW CO and use the compass all the time. It has never let us down or astray.

It worked great for about two weeks before it reversed polarity!Concept is great. Since I've tossed my packaging, no money back, but for $4 I'm going to use the band and glue a better compass to it.

No es la mejor brújula del mundo, pero tiene buena relación precio-calidad. Si se coloca a nivel se puede obtener lectura con unos 5º de margen de error, nada importante si lo que se quiere es tener una idea general. No debe usarse para trabajos de precisión.
