Yes, it's yet another new Bible Translation, but it's actually pretty good. The margin notes are very thorough in explaining alternative renderings. The translation itself lies somewhere between literal (like the NASB) and paraphrase (like the NLT). Overall, it's a very readable translation. As I'm not a Hebrew/Greek scholar I can't tell how accurate the translation is. The quality of the paper is a little poor. It's got a soft, almost tissue like feel. And if your hands sometimes get sweaty while holding books (like mine do) you can make the paper crumple slightly. Other than that, the Bible quality (binding etc) is good and seems pretty durable.

A brilliant translation offered in a super simulated leather binding that has a crown of thorns etched into it. Central reference column, rear concordance and maps make this a truly exceptionally good value bible and the HCSB has been my default translation of choice now for 11 years so I am delighted with the overall package. Also this is a larger print type - not big enough for someone with sight difficulties but ideal for someone in their 50's whose are have become shorter with age.

A fine bible with the excellent Holman translation. I have read of one review where the thickness of the pages has been a source of problem. However, both my wife and I find no real problem with page thickness. This bible is just right to take out and about (and the topical concordance is present for reference purposed).

This is a review of the book not the translation - that can be found elsewhere. On the whole this is a nicely produced book. The leather is fairly good quality, though not premium as in a Cambridge Bible, and has a 'grain' imprinted in it (the repeat pattern is a bit obvious!). It is light to medium weight. It most certainly is not a large print Bible, although the typeface is very clear to read. As has been pointed out on amazon.com, the references are rather small, and worse than that, are grey not black, in a san serif font which has a very thin line to it, which makes them much harder to read, particularly if one is intending to work one's way through a list given against one verse. The description on amazon also doesn't mention that this is a red-letter edition for the words of Christ, which I would rather not have had, but then this is not going to be my every day Bible, so not a big issue. Another minor irritation is the capitalisation of all pronouns relating to God/Christ, but then, you can't have everything, I suppose. Finally, one of my big gripes, as I have said in other Bible reviews, in something that one hopes the publishers expect to be used, why, oh why is there only one ribbon marker? It's a matter of pence to put more in, and in a book costing around £30, at least two, if not three or four could be provided. Most church services have two ore three readings. Surely that is not too much to ask.

This is just what I wanted. I'm finding it difficult getting used to having the book names at the bottom of the page rather than the top but it's not a big deal. Quick delivery.

El inglés es clásico, con lo que te tienes que acostumbrar, al principio, a algunas palabras. La letra es algo pequeña, como es lógico en una biblia de este tamaño, pero el texto, está muy bien organizado. Me encantó, es uno de mis tesoros personales. No le pongo más estrellas, porque no hay.

I have a lot of Bibles, as you have seen my reviews. I am a pastor and worship leader and I have every translation out there. My all time favorite is the HCSB. They have made some minor updates but enough that I wanted to get one that would last me a long time. I was looking at the new updated Thin-lines when I saw this listed. I read the reviews and I knew I loved the quality of the Ministers HCSB from BH Publishers. I knew they had used a very fine leather on that one so I was hoping this would be just as nice. What I got in the mail was better then expected. This leather is very nice! Very soft and supple. And the inside leather is smooth as butter as one guy said. It is very well made and will last you YEARS! The font is very easy to read and it not large print and my eyes had no problems reading it. As it was stated before, there is no concordance but when I am preaching, that is not a concern to me. The only thing I had wished they had done, is that most high in Bibles are black letter which is what I prefer. Too many times the red is faint and makes it hard to read. They however used more of a brick red color and that is easier to read. This Bible has just become my main translation and preaching Bible. I love the HCSB Translation. It is more iteral then the NIV and does not have the outdated wording like the KJV or the NKJV. There are people that love the ESV and I use that as well, but, I really do prefer the HCSB over all. And at the price, it is well worth it.

This is a great study Bible for English readers. Large, easy to read text along with obscure Bible measurements and terms put into easy to understand modern English. Those who are tired of the KJV but don't like the para-phrased versions of the Bible will appreciate the HCSB. More serious Bible students will find the center-column references, concordance and maps very helpful. The large margins provide plenty of space for your personal notes. Preachers of the Bible will appreciate the large-print text and optimal equivalence approach taken in translating from the Hebrew and Greek. I have owned many Bibles, but this is probably my favorite so far.

This is an outstanding bible, it is very soft on the leather and the type was fine, although i do not recommend this type for old eyes because the type is not that big, for me its just fine. The downsides is that the liner inside the bible is glued rather then sewn, and the problem with that is the liner opens up as you see on the pictures, the problem isnt all that major so it should be fine but if you want a secure liner, i recommend supergluing it shut, i just dont recommend you fold the bible in any way. I just want to let people know how GREAT this Bible is! I had not heard much about the Holman CSB until I visited some Bible blogs and got educated. This is where I learned how accurate and easy to read the CSB is, and what a great Bible the Legacy Ultrathin Black Cowhide Leather edition truly is. I saw some photo's on a blog and decided to take the plunge. I almost fell out of my chair when I opened up the box on delivery day. The leather is absolutely gorgeous! The paper is smooth and bright white, and the print is exceptional! I have several high-end Bibles, but this edition is now my favorite. The cowhide cover wants to melt into your hand and the format is perfect for study, plus easy on the eyes. The quality of this product is even better than a $200.00 Allen Bible I own. In addition, the Bible came to me a day earlier than estimated! The shipping service from Amazon was exceptional. By the way, the slim profile makes for easy handling and transporting. I can hardly believe the quality for such a low price! Don't hesitate folks, buy one asap. You won't be sorry.
