This is essentially a plaster-of-Paris–style product—a two-part powder that sets quickly and generates heat as it cures. It works fast, so you’ll want everything ready before mixing. Not suitable for unsupervised use by children under 12. It’s easy to use, with a smooth, workable consistency and no noticeable bubbling during application. Once set, it has the expected durability of plaster.

The powder and liquid system creates a significantly stronger, more durable finished product that resists chipping better than traditional materials. ​The included manual is clear, but the real magic happens post cure. Following the instructions to use a brush and vinegar on the finished piece effectively strips the surface film to reveal a stunning, high-contrast marble texture hidden inside. ​Pros: Water based and low odor, much higher structural integrity than plaster, beautiful internal marbling. ​Cons: Requires precise measuring of the two parts... the vinegar etching step is necessary to see the full aesthetic potential.

I gave this 1 star because of how it arrived. After I got the package opened up I realized the plastic bag and container were damaged and the material had spilled out in the box. I tried to get a replacement but they wanted the item sent back. I was not about to pour gypsum powder back into a bag to return. I had high hopes for this product, I just wish I had been able to use it more. I was able to make one item. The instructions were easy to follow and it was advertised at a reasonable price and arrived on time.

I do not have prior experience using gypsum casting powder, so I approached this as a beginner. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this product for small or highly detailed molds, especially if you are new to working with this type of material. After mixing the powder and liquid activator at the recommended 5:1 ratio, the mixture began setting extremely quickly. In my opinion, the drying time is simply too fast. You only have seconds to start getting the mixture into your mold before it begins to harden, which leaves very little room for hesitation or adjustment. I tried using a silicone mold with multiple small cavities, and it turned into a disaster. By the time I worked on filling the individual designs, the remaining mixture had already started drying and hardening inside my mixing bucket. The material felt very unforgiving to work with. I think this product would be much easier to use with one large, simple silicone mold rather than several small or intricate designs. The finished results were also mixed for me. Some pieces had a really nice finish, while others did not come out nearly as well, especially the more detailed designs. Overall, the material is capable of producing a nice finish, but the extremely fast drying time made it frustrating and difficult to use. For my purposes, I would stick to larger, simpler molds, and I would not recommend it for fine detailed projects.

This stuff is so cool! It's mostly like normal plaster or resin, and you have to be good at getting it into every crevice of the mold, but once it hardens and you wash it, it feels like real stone as in durable like a rock. The cost is pretty decent for the amount you get, and the instructions provide great info and make it easy to use. I think there are hundreds of fun projects it would be good for. One thing to note on bigger models, this stuff can get pretty heavy so just be prepared for that. I used it in a custom mold I made from an item I 3d printed and it worked great (though there weren't many fine details.
