Citric Acid Crystals 250g (50g x Pack of 5, Total:250g)

I use this citric acid crystals instead of lemon/lime juice in cooking and baking to avoid bitterness in the end product. In India, it’s hard to procure lemons year round. Most of the time you get tiny limes - which have great flavour when no heat is applied and added only AFTER cooking. But when you need to make a lemon pound cake or jam or candied fruit or maybe use in your curry or biriyani (while on stove) these crystals are the way to go. They don’t have the robust flavour of whole lemons but you get a “clean” taste. When I am too lazy to rinse, cut up and squeeze out a lime for my tea, I add this and it works great. The crystals are about the same size as white sugar. If you need to use it to season dry items, such as popcorn or makhana or nuts, grind it to a powder and mix with a bit of oil, so that the seasoning sticks well. Although the picture on the outside of the package shows lemonade made from these crystals, I do think you need to add flavouring separately to make a tasty drink.
