Excellent for a snowblower shoot!
I didn’t realize this is intended to move solar panels. It’s an excellent replacement for our snowblower shoot. As others have noted, it’s very slow however… it’s very very very powerful and I can see if not installed properly it could twist and bend things very quickly so make sure you do your homework before you start drilling holes. 4 Stars because it has not proven itself yet. I will update on one year. I posted a video on YT and will also try and post it here. If it holds up well I will buy another one as a spare. Amazon ROCKS!

Maybe for indoor applications
Not very durable. First, the IP54 rating is not for outdoor use, but for limited dust and limited water spray ingress. For outdoor use I would recommend a minimum rating of IP55.I had the actuator mounted to my chute on my tractor's snowblower (not a very demanding job) for raising and lowering the elevation of the chute. It starts out working fine and soon after it gets wet from snow accumulation, I am talking about water droplets on the outside of the case and not a spray of water, the actuator will continue to operate in one direction only. After it is removed, dryed and reinstalled, it works both directions again. In addition, the seal around the shaft does not stay in place as the set screw that hold it is stripped so the seal slides out of the housing and moves with the shaft. For any outdoor use where any moisture may be present, I would look elsewhere as this is for indoor uses only.

Failed nicely
Bought this unit to operate the chute on a 47" snowblower. Just installed it today, Dec. 12. It operated nicely for about 4 or 5 cycles. Then it stopped working. I went to return the item, to late. The unit was purchased Oct.22, had until Nov. 22 to return it.. Since I could not return/exchange it, I opened the end of the unit and found when it was assembled, one of the power wires was pinched resulting in the wire burning off. This failure was without a doubt a manufacture fault. Because it did not get put into service within 30 days of purchase, the failure of the manufacturer is now my problem. SO, if you purchase one of these, put it in service as soon as you get it.

Lasted less than 2 months
I built a solar tracker with 2 of these actuators. Regulated voltage, much less than 25% duty cycle (10 seconds every 10 minutes) with a perfectly balanced (125lb total weight), bearing rack. The panels can be easily moved with a single finger with less than 5 lbs pressure. One motor is shorting when moving in one direction but not the other as if the brushes are broken. These motors worked very well until it broke. Amp draw was less than 0.5a when running.. sure sounds like a build quality issue.

Failed in 60 days
This unit is on my solar panels. They weigh 121lb's. Unit somehow ran past upper limit switch and crashed the carrier into the mount. No way to adjust and passed 30 day warranty. So I'm screwed. I'll try to find something that's US made.

Nicer than I expected
So far mine works great. Seal makes a poping sound as you retract. Wiped a dab of lube on the shaft and it's gone. Only moving a tool up and down on a slide, maybe 50 pounds and it's just what I needed, not too fast that I overshoot. Current draw is less than 1.5 amps at 12 volts.
