Review: Comes with an English instruction sheet now. - It now comes with a 2 page text-only English instruction sheet. Not written by a native English speaker, but understandable enough. For example, "Make sure no dirty on them" = Make sure it is clean. Covers the basics of cleaning and operating the device. Doesn't appear as detailed as the official product manual, which has pictures, etc., but is only in Japanese. Easy to miss the English instruction sheet as it came with the shipping invoice, not together with the Japanese manual inside the product box. Almost threw it away. Apparently, they will email you the English pdf if you are lucky enough to find someone to email.
Review: Excellent Machine - This machine makes excellent mochi. It is easy to use and clean and is well made and study. I used it the first time on New Years Day and it made the best mochi I have ever tasted. I have always bought frozen at Mitsuwa. However, lately, they have not been carrying it. So, I decided to buy this machine and make it myself. One of my best purchases and well worth the cost. It's really important to be sure your mochi rice is properly soaked before putting it in the machine. The machine is automatic, but you can manually operate it as well. I highly recommend this product.

**Q: Is there really a $40.00 federal tax after you receive the item? How any people have had to pay this tax?**
A: I didn’t. They must bury it in the cost of the machine

**Q: is this made in Japan?  thank you for your response.**
A: Yes, it is. You may need a step-down transformer from 120 to 100 V. Mochi you'll get from it is amazingly tasteful.

**Q: I see that it is 100 volts. comments say that it works fine on 110v.However, does the plug fit north american outlets?**
A: Although the difference between Japanese and U.S. voltage is not great, it is enough to make a difference. Plugging a Japanese appliance directly into a North American outlet can have one of two effects. If the appliance has a heating element, the element may overheat and start a fire. This has been known to happen with Japanese washlets and electric heaters. If the appliance has a motor, the motor may run irregularly or burn out. This is especially likely if the motor was designed to run on 50 Hz alternating current.

**Q: I am going to assume since this machine is available fir sake in the us that it’s been configured for american electrical specifications. is it?**
A: It works fine in US.  But it is not designed to do so.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ all instructions are in Japanese and you need a step down (110V to 100V).

instructions are in Japanese so you need someone to translate - or experiment as I did. It also needs a step-down from 110 volt to 100 volt ( is the Japanese standard & 110 is USA std house voltage) fortunately read that info before I used it otherwise I probably would have fried the internals. It works great and makes really good mochi, but one shouldn't have to translate the instructions in order to use it.
