Fantastic contextualisation of a classic account
The Landmark approach results in a hefty volume but one which adds enormous value. The work which has gone into providing context and background to Caesar's Commentaries is outstanding. So much work has been put in that it cannot be fitted into the printed volume with the excess going into a series of highly informative web essays. The translation is clear and flowing whilst retaining the lapidary quality of the original. The narrative is supported by many excellent maps - another of the excellent features of the Landmark approach. The whole package is outstanding value for money.

Absolutely Essential for any one who is interested in the Classical World!
I have all the books in the 'Landmark' series and cannot praise them highly enough. Every volume is authoritative, informative and beautifully presented. This latest volume is a worthy addition to the series.

Excellent book
I have read Caesar's Gallic and Civil wars years ago but this book is an excellent way to read again.

Excellent book, with many illustrations
Whilst generally pleased, the book is a little battered, so you might like to get it from another source.

Fine text, however online appendices a disaster
The text is fine however having the appendices online is an absolute disaster. So much so that in future, if this practice continues, I will in all probability not purchase any further Landmark Classics. Just give us the books please.

Excellent layout and content very promising on first inspection
This book which I have just received, and upon spending an hour sampling a most comprehensive content and appendices, maps and plates as well as numismatics, showing many of the coins that I have within my own collection and adding more meaning to each struck flan, it also provides me with a thrilling opportunity to read and learn more on this most important turning point in western history and advancement (in my view). However I recoil every time I see the attempted vandalism of the English abbreviation's for BC and AD with the deliberate replacement (destined to fail) of BCE and CE...... Had I known of this incursion I would NOT have purchased this tome as a point in principle !
