Q: Is it impossible to crimp on short side of tee press fittings of all 1/2", 3/4", 1"? or is it doable with some deformation?

This unit should work fine on any pro press copper crimp fitting regardless of short side or not.

Q: What brands copper fittings will this properly press. will the 1/2" crimp properly press nibco and viega?

I am unfamiliar with Nibco products, so I looked them up. Here in Hawaii we use Viega or Propress. Nibco seems to be the same type of fitting with a different brand name. My best guess without actually have tried, is that this will properly press Nibco as well. The problem that everyone is having with the 1/2 inch press is pressing the "t" fitting. It is tough and requires a little planning but I was able to press all of the 1/2 fittings that I used including the "t" by pressing it first. And if I remember correctly it only fits one direction, been a while since I used it. Hopes this helps!

Yes it does. Viega and nibco have the same crimping specs. Rick.

Q: can i used the short throw press tool as copper pipe crimper ?

No - does not crimp pipe save for small amount needed to secure Pro Press fittings.
