If you’re looking at reviews of season three then it is inevitable that you’re already captivated by this epic masterpiece of TV fantasy. We re-watched seasons one and two as a bit of essential preparative revision and have, as with previous seasons, watched this one twice back-to-back. A second viewing is essential, especially as we have a whole raft of new characters, to really get to enjoy the fiendish complexity of the interwoven narrative threads. Some very minor spoilers follow in the next paragraph…The seven kingdoms of Wersteros become ever more disparate as the civil war continues with Rob Stark leading the men of the North against the unspeakable King Joffrey while nobody is paying any attention to events north of the wall with Jon Snow as the Wildlings head south against the inexorable approach of winter and concomitant White Walkers. At the same time, Daenerys with attendant splendid dragons is trying to raise an army to help restore the Targaryen throne while Stannis licks his metaphorical wounds and falls further under the thrall of the red witch. That just covers the main story arcs. Add into that mix Arya’s journey and the Brotherhood Without Banners, Jamie Lannister & Brienne and Bran’s very separate quests, the ascendancy Margaery Tyrell and, as ever, the irrepressibly brilliant Tyrion and the improbably likeable Varys hold King’s Landing together as things are not all sweetness and light in the house of Lannister.There is just so much going on in so many places that it is impossible to grasp all of the subtleties even after a second viewing. Just for a change, there is a really useful Blu-ray special feature – the ‘in episode guide’ allows you to see who is doing what where; really handy on the first viewing with so many new characters to keep track of.With a lot of getting from A to B and a lack of set piece scenes, this season gives the feeling of getting all of the chess pieces in the right place ready for a tumultuous fourth season. That’s not to say, however, that there aren’t more than a few surprises along the way. Well done, again, HBO – splendid stuff.

I think this might be my favourite season (with the red wedding and all!)...As they say, you either read "Game of Thrones" books and are readily diving into the series, prepared and in full anticipation of all the amazement, or you did not have any idea the books existed. That's me, hence excuse the unprejudiced review of the series only, now in their Fourth Season. But it's the Third Season that completely blew me away.I was hooked from the word go once I started the Third Season of "Game of Thrones", this complex chronicle of nobility and honour, family connections, deceit and treason, vengeance and heroism, with a hint of supernatural thrown in (more now than in previous seasons). The show is gripping, the characters well-cast and memorable, the acting is great (seriously, I could not see any flaws with the acting, besides, the actors/characters blend extremely well together!), engaging and crisp dialogue (Tyrion Lannister's humour is quite legendary!), amazing settings (the series did not have the, say, "Lord of the Rings" budget, yet the settings, the scenes, the costumes are all lavish and opulent!). Each episode is about 60 minutes long so it really feels like you are watching a real film, made for the big screen, not an episode in series.There is everything in "Game of Thrones", from gory war scenes (more so in the Third Season, beginning with Jaime Lannister's un-luck!) to tear-jerking love stories, from extreme brutal violence to clever sarcastic confrontations and dialogues; there is an array of characters whom you already love and hate (and miss from one episode to the next), there is admirable attention to detail, there is a multi-layered plot, there are brilliant story lines (I guess it pays that the original author remains somewhat in control of the televised production), there is a lot of passion, emotions and heat (i.e. sex), despite the fact that winter is coming!What can I say, this show is addictive, with every second man beheaded, every third woman raped and "in each episodes, there is at least a couple of dudes that you want to shag" (as my fellow female watcher put!).

Love all of the seasons of games of thrones

Television entertainment at its best. Like a great book that you cannot put down and feel excitement about picking up and reading again when life interferes with the flow, this series is riveting.

The show is 5 stars, but this release gets 4 stars because the packaging differs from the picture. Why does that matter? Well the pictured packaging (almost) matches that of the initial season 1 and season 2 releases. However the actual packaging, while nice in it's own right, has moved away from the cardboard slipcased with reflief metalic with spot gloss. Instead it is a clear plastic slipcase with a lightly glued on plain carboard information sheet. This reduces the incentive for collectors to pay day one release price for each item in the series, but instead wait for a cut price box set, such as the Season 1 - 3 release which is only 20 pounds more than Season 3.

The set includes not only the episodes of the third season in high definition, but a lot of extras that are quite welcome for those of us who want to know more about the series.The series itself is quite brutal and unsettling at times, much more so than the previous seasons and definitely is meant for a mature audience, but that is also one of the plus points of Game of Thrones, it does not shy away from the realities of war, something uncommon in these politically correct times.The extras included follow the same line of the previous seasons, if you are buying season 3 it means you already got seasons 1 and 2, so you know what to expect.

La edición es espectacular, para variar. Yo no elegí la versión con el dragón porque luego acaba convirtiéndose en un estorbo y, salvo que tengas mucho espacio, acaba guardándose en cualquier sitio, aparte de que el precio es mayor.Sobre la serie poco que añadir, si lees esta opinión ya la conocerás o habrás oído hablar de ella y, si llegas por casualidad a esta página, dale una oportunidad y ve la primera temporada. Es muy buena. La portada de la caja viene en inglés, así como el lomo. Según he leído es algo a nivel mundial, aunque estropea las colecciones de los que compramos las ediciones españolas, con las dos primeras en español y esta tercera en inglés. Parece que la cuarta volverá a venir en nuestro idioma. La contraportada sí viene en castellano, así como la serigrafía de los discos y el folleto interior con los títulos de los capítulos, que cuenta con un póster en la cara posterior (una imagen del salón del trono). La portada en inglés es la única pega por cuestión de estética pero tampoco es para quitarle estrellas a esta gran edición.

Dennoch scheint es so, als ob es niemand mit den Lannisters und dem bitterbösen König Joffrey aufnehmen kann und hinzu kommt noch die geplante Hochzeit zwischen Joffrey und Margaery Tyrell.Eine weitere Gefahr kommt aus dem Norden, hinter der Eismauer. Dort lauern nicht nur die weißen Wanderer, sondern auch die Wildlinge. Im Süden begibt sich Daenerys auf die Suche nach einer großen Armee um sich den Thron zu krallen. Doch alles hat seinen Preis.Sehr, sehr selten habe ich einer TV-Serie entgegen gefiebert aber "Game of Thrones" ist zurzeit das Beste, was es gibt. Die Geschichten sind spannend, interessant und keine Sekunde langweilig. Die Charaktere sind sehr gut ausgearbeitet und es ist immer wieder ein Wechselspiel zwischen Sympathie und absolutem Hass. Gut - bei den Lannisters ist es hauptsächlich Hass.Die Darsteller machen einen sehr guten Job, vor allem J. Gleeson als König Joffrey - wird sicherlich nach der Serie Probleme haben, etwas Neues zu finden. Selten etwas so Böses und dennoch Faszinierendes gesehen. Dies Musik ist ebenso vom Allerfeinsten und unterstreicht die einzelnen Szenen. Die Animationen - vor allem die Drachen sind sehr gut und besser als in manchen Hollywood-Filmen.Die FSK-Einstufung ist Ansichtssache. Mein persönlicher Tipp - bevor Eltern mit Ihren Kindern bzw. 16-Jährigen, vor allem die 9. Folge, die Serie anschauen, evtl. die erste Runde allein genießen. Ein paar Szenen sind wie ein Faustschlag in den Magen. 5 SterneDas Bild: Bei manchem Kinofilm wünschte man sich so eine Qualität. Für mich persönlich ein perfektes Bild. Es wird ab und zu das Bild verfremdet (farblich) aber das hat keine Auswirkung auf das Bild. Die Farben sind kräftig, jedes einzelne Detail ist zu erkennen (z. B. die Schuppen von den Drachen), der Schwarzwert ist ebenso ohne Beanstandung. Bildfehler oder Ähnliches konnte ich nicht erkennen. 5 SterneDer Ton: Dieser liegt in Deutsch, Italienisch und Russisch in DTS 5.1, in Englisch in DTS-HD MA 5.1 und in Tschechisch in DD 2.0 vor. Die Abmischung ist sehr gut geworden, die Stimmen und der Sound ist immer sehr gut zu verstehen. Egal ob es irgendwelche Schlachten sind oder ein Schneesturm tobt - man versteht alles und hört jede Kleinigkeit. 5 SterneDie Extras: Das schöne Digipack von Amazon ist sein Geld wert. Die Außenhülle sowie die Hülle für das Digipack sind geprägt und fühlen sich rau sowie etwas ledrig an. Im Inneren gibt es wieder einen Episodenführer und auf der Rückseite ein Bild vom Thron. Die Extras sind auf die Disc's verteilt. Es gibt wieder eine Zusammenfassung von Season 1+2 sowie zu jeder Folge eine Vorschau und Rückblende. Die Extras sind unter anderem 12 Audiokommentare mit Cast und Crew, "Führer innerhalb der Episode" hier kann man Infos zu Charakteren, Drehorte, etc. während der Episode abrufen, "Der Regen von Castamaer" bietet sehr gute Einblicke in die wohl beste Folge bis dato! "Legenden und Überlieferungen" Infos über Westeros. "Die wurzeln von Westeros" hier kann man alles über die verschiedensten Beziehungen, Konflikte etc. der einzelnen Adelshäuser erkunden. Zudem sind hier entfernte Szenen sowie Outtakes zu sehen. "Ein Sturm zieht auf" bezieht sich auf die 2. Staffel mit Interviews mit Cast und Crew. "Die Politik der Ehre" wie schon der Name sagt, geht es hier um die Machtspiele und die politischen Bündnisse. "Unter Wildlingen" Infos über die Wildlinge. "Neue Charaktere" hier werden die neuen Darsteller vorgestellt. 4,5 Sterne
